What's new

Jazz @ Heat | November 9th @ 5:30pm

With Fess helping out with defense in the paint, it makes slashers like Lebron and Wade hesitate, and it means that the defender can guard the shot rather than the drive. It makes a difference. Fess either makes the slasher finish a tougher shot or make a tough pass in traffic. Plus he can actually box someone out on the rebound.

I am sure somebody mentioned it but not only was Jefferson unable to hit the broad side of a barn he did not bother to contest hardly any shots by driving Heat players. If he does not want to play defense he may see his minutes reduced a lot once Memo comes. back. Hopefully his benching will cause him to pick up his intensity of defense. Also hopefully this game will put Fes back ahead of Elson on the depth chart.

Is there really anyone left who wants to put limits on Sap's ceiling? He's doing everything--finishing, shooting, handling the basketball, maneuvering in the paint, scoring over taller defenders, defending. When we finally get Big Al completely on board, that tandem of Sap and Al is going to be fearsome.

Props to Elson for making his free throws (and less props for not missing the 2nd), but it's time to give his minutes to Fes. Fes is a superior player. End the veteran madness and commit to Fes.

-@tribjazz: Real difference maker: Raja Bell. Bell's halftime talk inspired Jazz to victory, teammates said.
-@tribjazz: Bell reminded Jazz what was at stake during halftime speech. Utah was getting embarrassed in a game many predicted them to lose.

Bell did a little bit of what Fisher did back in 2006-2007. Both of them get criticized for their shooting and some of that stuff and maybe rightly so, but the intangibles guys like these brings get overlooked often amidst the statsophilia that dominates discussions on this board.

Looks like Bell was atleast partly instrumental in bringing the Reggie Miller out of Millsap. Kudos to both.

Big Al owes Millsap and the team atleast a couple of good games on this trip.

And finally, Price is our backup PG. Watson is the world's best emergency PG on Earth. But the job has been won.
Price and Fes hopefully earned some minutes tonight. If AJ, CJ and Raja aren't getting it done, hopefully Sloan takes advantage of some of his other options.

Price's game winning drive and dish to Elson was amazing tonight. He didn't panic, took control and managed the time very, very well. Amazing job, Ronnie!

Also, a key stat of the game. Coming into the game, the Heat had the best defense in the league. Lowest points per game against them.
