Jazz select Justin Wright-Foreman with the 53rd pick

So can he learn to play as a complimentary piece?
He not only has the talent on the court, he has a head for the game. He will do what the team requires of him and he will do it well. I stress in the other thread how fine a player JWF is. I stress here how fine a team player he is. When he was dropping 30 points it wasn't out of Westbrick-selfishness. Wright-Foreman would drop 30 because that was required of him on some nights. On others he would feed. There was a kid on Hofstra named Bernardi who was an uncanny lights out three point shooter and JWF knew when that guy was on --- feed the beast!

Wright-Foreman is not a me-me-me head case. He is a top basketball player who can be a star or a complimentary player. He will do what is required to win. A coach's dream. A teammate's dream. A fan's dream.

*complementary :-)

Watched a little of JWF.

-struggled against NC State's pressure and athletes and get several passes deflected
-made more positioning mistakes defensively than I would expect of a player of his experience
-on the bright side he can really shoot, drive and pass

So hopefully he can clean up his defensive mistakes.

This is the pick I'm most excited about. And no comparing Wright-Foreman to Kevin Murphy. Statistically, W-F blows Murphy out of the water with way more shots taken to boot.

And look at how he's improved from the line during his four years. I have little expectation on the defensive end but if he can improve there as well and be a mediocre defender it's going to be fun having him in the rotation.

Should be noted he had 29, 6 and 5 in that game.

Since 2008, JWF is one of three players with 250+ three-point attempts, 150+ rim attempts shooting 65 percent at the rim, along with Jimmer Fredette in 2011 and Buddy Hield in 2016.

Lol @ everyone acting like Jimmer comparison is out of no where.

Both dudes played at a small school. Both dudes were one of the top scorers in the nation. Both dudes played the same position. Both dudes could shoot. Both dudes jacked up a lot if 3s.
And both dudes play zero defense. JWF's defensive stats are pretty abysmal. Giving up nearly 112 points per 100 possessions over his career is not great, and he had nearly the worst DRtgs on a Hofstra team that was pretty poor defensively over the past couple of seasons. I guess at 53 one can't expect 3 AND D, but it would be nice. The silver lining is that Hofstra has been in the bottom half of college basketball defensively during JWF's entire career, so maybe he was just part of a poor defensive system/philosophy/mindset. Since D is 99% effort, perhaps Quin & Co. can drill it into him.

Bigs have a bigger effect on defense than perimeter guys. I think that maybe we have someone that can help him out a little there.

Another silver lining? Jazz have Rudy, the best defender in the world, and Hofstra didn't
