Jazz trade John collins

Yeah, from what I read the Bulls want him at or under 25 per, and Giddey wants the Suggs contract (like you said 30 per year).

I think I would be OK with paying him 30 per year. He had a 3.0 BPM with the Bulls, and I wouldn't call his teammates great. Averaged 20-10-10 in the last two months of the season (obviously the least impressive time to do that, but still impressive). Was also the only player on the Bulls to show up for the play in game.

Just think he's kind of a perfect fit given the lack of playmakers we have, and he's become a reliable wide open shooter. He just kind of makes everyone the roster make more sense together in a way not a lot of obtainable players can.
The problem is is defensive suckitude….

Im not smart enough to know all the rules regarding S&T's, but I would give up Collier/Sensabaugh to make it work.
I think if the Jazz want him, they’d have to work out some sort of sign and trade deal with Chicago. Otherwise, I agree that the Bulls match. Not sure what they’d want back, but they’d almost certainly want to get back more than they gave up to get him.

Yes, but we got to roll Gay,s salary into Collins instead of paying them both.
We wanted Collins though... he wasn't a means to get out of Gay's money. It was 100% about getting Collins the player and not a salary move. We could have paid Gay and used like 20M+ in cap space that offseason. Might have even been at the floor.

Kuminga and Giddey are basically in the same boat as players/prospects. Think I’d prefer Giddey just because of the type of player he is. We are over indexed on prospects with low IQ and want to score.
Just get them next year when whatever team pays them regrets it and is willing to attach an asset.

I don’t think Giddey is any more of a winning player than Kuminga. Great box score guy, terrible +\- guy. If Kuminga was on the Bulls, he’d also put up bonkers box score numbers.

Why do we want a player that contributes to regular season winning and not postseason winning right now.
Well I never said he wouldnt contribute to post-season winning. That's just the only avenue someone would regret signing Giddey. I think he is undoubtedly a very good player. But yes he has some flaws/warts that may prevent him from translating his full game to the post-season, or he might not.

No one is going to regret signing Giddey unless they make it to the PO and he isnt that kind of player, but he will put up great numbers in the regular season and contribute to winning.
Depends on the price but he really goosed his numbers post AS break and if you are buying based on that... there could be some buyers remorse if he is closer to 12/7/6 than 21/11/9. He has been a post AS break looter. Even at 25M per year I have real reservations.

Definitely goosed them, but I also think he is legitimately good. Had a crazy triple double game vs the Lakers in a win during the late season, so it wasnt all empty calories vs bad /not trying teams.

I also just love the fit and I need something to kind of look at as a "what if" fun scenario for the rest of the off-season.

Also, while cap space in 2026 is alluring, a lot of teams will have cap-space and Utah is still Utah. If we can get someone with upside in, it seems kind of worth it?

Yeah I $20M per year like him. I $30M per year kinda hate him. He likely gets closer to that and I could see them regretting that one if it gets there.

He has done it multiple years so I just wonder what player he is most like. Cap space may not mean much next year. We will see.

I also think it is helpful to wait and see what you have before getting a guy like Giddy who does kind of box you in a little. Especially for where we are.

Who is better long-term, Kuminga or Walker? I think it would be Kuminga
Walker, no question in my mind. He will always have value, even if he gets a bit overpaid. Teams will still have helio-centric ballhandlers that will need a lob threat, and Walker is one of the best in that regard.

And even outside of Walker being a more universal fit league wide, he just a better player flat out.

I'd give JK the edge over Giddey as an overall prospect....Giddey has a better chance to succeed in UTA though.
