Jazz vs Grizzlies 7:08 pm MST Root Sports

Ghewwwwww.
I DVR'd this game.
The first quarter, Big Al got posted up at around the 7 minute mark. I forwarded to the next posession.
Big Al post up. Forward.
Big Al post up. Forward.
Big Al post up. Forward.
Big Al post up. Forward.
I kid you not. I knew this game was lost in the first quarter. Thank God for that 2nd quarter, that was great to watch Favors and Kanter and Hayward Carolle and Tinsley and basketball. Too bad for that 3rd quarter.

Memphis just a better team. their bigs don't play like pansies, their guards are actually starting caliber guards, and their coach actually... You know... Coaches and doesn't just cheerlead with super nice suits on.

This isn't a surprise. Memphis is everything we wish we were. Smart coach, dynamic guards, and physical kick *** bigs. I have a man crush on Marc Gasol. And Big Z is what we really hoped Big Al would be. Neither plays defense, neither is very athletic, and both have a fantastic array of moves. The difference is one avoids contact while the other initiates it.

Memphis is truly everything we wish we were. If only we'd get it through out thick skulls and trade Big Al like now and start building for the futre. Kanter + Favors could be our Gasol/Big Z if only given the chance.

10 points in the 3rd quarter. 10 ****ing points in the 3rd quarter. Outscored by ****ing 18 in the ****ing 3rd quarter. ****.

Let's just committ to the youth to see who we should keep and who we should trade.

At this rate , we will finish 8th at best. With Youth , we will be 8-11. Not a big difference. Thing is , after you commit to youth, STICK with it.

Here are my starters:

1. Mo (relucatntly...hope we can trade Al for someone better)
2. Burks
3. Hayward
4. Favors
5. Kanter

At this rate all our young guns have been inconsistent. Some(Burks) have not been given a fair chance.

Let roll with these 5 STARTING & FINISHING games with at least 26 mins/nite each. We need to know what we have.

I have a feeling we will play more fun ball and actually close strong after starting 10 games slow.....

This is the starting 5 i have wanted from game #1.

It's hard waiting for the future. We know a lot of these vets won't be here next year.

We also may ruin our relationship with Burks. Completely burying him on the end of the bench might be too much for him to get past.
He might just move on when his time comes up.

I was at the game and i love burks so i kept an eye on him alot. I was down close by the hoop that the jazz used in the 2nd half. I noticed at half time that hayward was the 1st one out to start shooting, then burks and evans came out together. Burks went over to josh selby and was talking with him for a bit and then went over to the jazz hoop to warm up.
Burks and evans had to just stand under the hoop and rebound for hayward, foye, and carroll.... they didn't even get to take any shots, and by the time the rest of the team came out from the locker room, they started the layup drills before burks was even able to attempt a shot.... Then during the layup drill burks took 5 jumpers from around the free throw line distance/area and made 4 of them.
Sadly that was the only burks action i got to see all night. :(

Seems like he is always at the very end of the bench but still makes an effort to high five everyone when they come out of the game at least... other than that he didn't seem real interested in the game and definately isn't much of a cheerleader. (i dont really blame him)

I blame the fans. They were slow to show up, sat down too much, and never really stepped up. Amazing that they can bring so much energy for Lakers and Spurs and then come into the arena so flat to face the Grizzlies.

There were actually alot fans at the game and we were very loud during that second quarter run.

The problem is that it seems like the fans are just like us on this forum.... they are just waiting for kanter, favors, carroll, hayward, burks, and evans to come in before getting really excited.
I heard quite a few different fans sitting around me grumbling about kanter or favors not playing more, bitching about big al and tinsley, and a few even talked about how stupid it is for burks to get dnp's.

I hope this is sarcasm. We should be embarrassed as fans that we don't have men, but little boys that need their hands held to play half-decent basketball.

I was also at the game and that third qtr it looked like the whole team had no energy and effort, the whole team played lazy and didn't move on offense, turned the ball over too much and got K I L L E D on the boards. Hard to get out and run when you can't get a rebounds, maybe that would've got them in some kind of flow and brought energy to make a few cuts in the set offense.

This may have been addressed in other threads (first time I've logged in since early Fri) but I'm positive Favors is on a minute count so that is why he hasn't and couldn't play more minutes. For Tinsley and Watson playing to me a few games ago it seemed that Corbin is going with letting each play for 2 games then switching to the other playing 2 games, however both have been pretty bad last few games.

Marvin was a wuss tonight offensively, and we needed Favors/Al or Al/Kanter to match up with their bigs.

There was a play in the first period where The Jazz inbounded the ball from under their own basket. Williams was at the top of the key and somehow the ball ended up in his hands with about 3 seconds on the shot clock. You could tell immediately by his reaction that the original play was not designed for him to get the ball. He threw up a pathetic shot and Memphis rebounded.

This is Marvin Williams in a nut shell. The guy is just going through the motions half the time.

Fully expected to read all the Al hatred. Didn't see too many posts about how the 2's and 3's went 9/24 and the 1's went 4/17. 5/17 from 3. Al and Sap weren't the problems.

The biggest problem we have on offense is we are not at all dynamic when the ball goes into the post. This is not just Al. It's Sap/Favors/Kanter. I have no idea what Ty is trying to run on post plays. The idea is to give the post man space to work, but to move without the ball. At least one player has to come on the post's side for an outlet. At least one player has to cut. We just run Iso's and rebound. And that's no matter who is in the post.

Jazz got punched in the labia at home after controlling the first half. There are no good signs in there anywhere.
