Kanter traded to OKC

That may very well have been what DL was thinking.

That's pretty much my thought. It was either let Kanter walk for nothing, pay him to sit well away from the team, or just be done with it. A player has no value if they don't play and the FO had to be concerned with a possible locker room cancer. I don't know if it was the best deal, but better something than nothing. Kanter can suck a garden hose.

If you recall, Boozer WAS shopped. The Jazz allowed him to violate the tampering rules by going on a summer tour of various trade destinations. And what offers did Utah receive for him? Zero. The only one that was rumored would have brought us back a bad contract. Teams were just willing to wait on Carlos rather than trade decent assets to get him. Kanter is no Carlos. Except for the fact he's stayed healthy, Enes is not the player Carlos was. Boozer was in his prime, putting up big numbers and still the market was non-existent.

I think you are assuming that because you didn't hear about it, there must not have been any offers. People have made all kinds of claims about the value of players like Boozer and Al on this site. Both guys went on to sign big deals when they left, so that probably says more about their value than which rumors we did or didn't hear.

I'm curious as to why that is.

The euro-game is just a different game entirely. Shorter games, WAY more emphasis on team-basketball, plays, cuts, etc. Scoring, and possessions tend to be very balanced across the board.

It's possible we will miss Kanter's offense, but more minutes for Rudy = winning more. Even missing Enes, I just don't see how Utah doesn't win more with more Rudy.

Of course freakster, of course. It's all about losing isn't it? Why don't we start the rebuild from scratch? Hey but let's do it the right way this time, let's bring in all D-Leaguers, guaranteed 1st picks for 5 years at least. WIN

I think this is exactly the point. The Jazz thought he was worth let's say 8 mil a year. They knew on the open market he would get 12 mil a year because other teams didn't know our player as well as we do. So instead of letting Kanter play out his contract (like Boozer and Jefferson) DL got some value for him. Just because someone else is willing to give a guy a contract doesn't mean he is worth the same number to us.

Hah, no, not really, but I would like to maybe be honest about how the trade wasn't great, but that maybe it was the only option out there.

And just because it was an awful trade doesn't mean it was a bad decision. Calling it an awful trade isn't necessarily being negative, it's just reacting to an obvious fact. I think Kanter's value plummeted after publicly demanding a trade and his agent's comments. Obviously if they could have gotten a better deal they would have done it. The only choice was get something back or let him go in free agency.

If the difference, in your mind, between a "trade" and a "decision" is that a "trade" is a decision without the meaningful context that COMPLETELY CHANGES how we would view a trade, then why are we talking about the trade at all?

Some posters on this forum, I swear.

Oh man, sounds like the same BS spin we would always get from KOC. O'Connor wasn't flown it to help make any deals, it was to prep Lindsey on how to make an awful move sound not-so-bad.

Cool yer jets, Leroy. Utah's GM just basically told the fans that the tank ends this year. Good news for the fans who feel abused because the team wasn't completely rebuilt in one year.

To me positives from this-

Favors knows he is the 2nd option on offense for the rest of this season. He can develop some more confidence in his moves. It give Rudy time and space to fail, so he can find his weaknesses. I trust Rudy to work on correcting those. If Hood can stay healthy we are going to need him to do some scoring.

And of course we got some assets.

They are also much stingier on giving out assists. There isn't the ISO ball like you indicated. His numbers are really good for euro ball. He might be a really good backup.

We see numbers and think Kanter is good. I can't wait to see him on a contender... We'll see if he can contribute to actually winning.

I'm watching OKC v Dallas on tv. Fun to think how Enes will fit in.

Brooks: Enes., run down there and then watch Durant and Russell. Don't stand in the paint for more than 3 seconds.

Enes: you want me to run or stand, I'm confused.
=====================

Brooks: on defense just try to not trip or fall on Durant or Russell.

Enes: It's okay, I usually don't cross half court before other team scores.

Also, funny to think he was complaining about playing time with Favors and Gobert, now he plays with Ibaka, Adams, McGary and Jones. OKC has enough bigs to employ a defensive strategy of fouling hard in the paint.
