Lockout!!!

It was inevitable that a 3rd party was going to have be brought in on this. The two sides would never have seen eye to eye because they are looking at this from two different perspectives. The owners have had their a$$es handed to them the last two CBAs (current standings Hunter 2, Stern 0). The players want to negotiate off of the last CBA, whereas the owners don't want to even look at the last CBA and want to blow the whole thing up making up for all their previous "concessions" in one fell swoop. I assume in most CBA negotations it is proper to go off previous CBAs so I think the owners are being too heavy-handed. They want everything they've given up back in this new CBA, but for everyone's sake it may be best to strike a deal where the players make a decent amount of concessions (but not all), and then they'll have to wait for the next CBA to expire to make up the rest.

For what it's worth, my read of the Simmons column is that he thinks the "fair" solution is a lot more concessions by players on issues beyond BRI.

I think you took my post a little to literally. I'm just saying that I think Simmons is really close on what the deal is going to look like. Do the players end up giving up a lot more than they'd like? Yes, but sooner or later they're going to have to if they want to play. The owners are in this to win this time. They may give in on one or two things, but this new CBA will greatly favor the owners regardless, so why not get it over with.

....I, as you may well be aware of......led this board in posts by a large margin until it was merged or combined with another board and the count started over! I had a larger lead than Stockton has on career steals and career assists!

i hope the players start their own league with nike...they can probably make 33% of their current salaries, and what they lose in income they can make up for in equity in the new league. David stern and the owners can eat a ****, this is highway robbery.

The executive class in this country has lost their ****ing minds.

...nah! Can't catch the leader no matter how many times I post. He's got too big of a lead! However, I do lead in posts that contain the phrases "hopper" and "jailhouse tats"!
