I'm not a 9'ers fan at all and if it wasn't for Smith would be happier seeing them lose I just wanted to point out you forgot to mention them beating a couple of other elite teams the Giants (@ home) and the Eagles (on the road) oh wait I guess only one of those teams are elite. Also they've had what 3 or 4 games back east and won them all any road win is never easy so I wouldn't just dismiss that.Bitter? About what? I'm glad the Eagles are losing to be honest and hope they lose out so they can get better draft picks. As far as my general tone, I suppose it does sound a bit much. I simply can't stand loudmouths who brag about their team but when push comes to shove won't stake something to show much faith they supposedly have in said team. If not money, something. Katie, you name it. I'm being the loudmouth now so what would you be willing to wager as far as the Niners divisional round playoff game? I'm curious so if someone would respond to this so she can see it, I'd appreciate it.
As far as why I think they'll lose, I have two major reasons, the first of which is history. I feel like every year or so, there's a team like this, who has an easier schedule, has some luck, gets the #1 or more often, #2 seed, and then flames out in the divisional round when they play someone of note. Someone who's hungry and not just complacent that they got the #2 seed. The Falcons were sort of like this last year. The Bears in the Dick Jauron era were definitely like this. My other reason has to do with their sweet schedule. The Niners have beat some solid teams: the Bengals, the Cowboys, the Lions. Are any of them actually going to make the playoffs though? Maybe the Cowboys but I don't think the other two will. In short, they've been the recipient of an easy schedule and have even easier games to come. Once they play someone real like Baltimore in eight days, let's see how they do. I just don't see it ending too well for them. In the second round of the playoffs, I think the Saints could give them fits because of their mere ability to out-offense them. Perhaps I'm wrong. Everyone in the NFC is largely unimpressive in my opinion while the AFC has a deeper group of teams with resumes, qb's, and coaching. But with Payton, Brees, and company, I think the Niners could be shellshocked like they've not been all year...even with a suspect defense.
But I think you're right that history says they may win one playoff game as it as all come to fast and teams usually have to "earn" it and not be a flash in the pan to get past the championship game to the SB.
Also don't worry my Phins play your Eagles so that is at least one win left on your schedule, funny that game might decide who gets the 4th or 5th pick.
