What's new

Game Thread Oct 27, 2025 07:00PM MT: Phoenix Suns @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 10-27-25

Instead of focusing on the worst case scenario, finishing bottom 8 and losing out on our pick due to getting jumped in the lottery, I'm going to try and focus on the best case scenario, we make the play in, but still win the lottery and keep our pick.

(Hopefully my logical brain will let me do this)

In 2022-23 Danny Ainge had a choice of direction in January. He could have given that scrappy .500 team reinforcements to get them in playoffs which may have also sabotaged Minny (we could have finished above them and not give them help with Conley).

There are signs that similar choices may be facing his son this year. This team does not look like a bottom feeded, but much more like a scrappy mid team. Even in our one loss... we shot poorly and Kings played with very high intensity in their own building, and it all still came down to one rebound we lost.

Relax. This was one of the very few times that the Jazz will be favored going into a game.

Need more Ace tbh
Sure, for losing. But for Ace's future (which is pretty tied into the Jazz's future) running him out there when he's playing like this is poisonous. Dude is chucking everything up on O and barely jogging on D. I'm still giving him a free pass due to his illness and him being a week into his new job.

Although this team looks good, we could literally run it back next year with AJ, Peterson, or Boozer as well. I'm nervous we'll go for an 8th seed
That's not an option. That's just a hope and a dream.

I mean, if the Jazz do last season's tank job, what do you think that does to the chances of Markkanen and Kessler being on next season's team? No "running it back" when there's not a single player over 23 on your team.

I would have been so pissed had we lost that game. A lot of Jazz players stunk yet we still won, which is encouraging. Also although the season is young we're currently 13th in the league in defensive rating.

I keep coming back to this, but besides Steph, who’s actually better off the ball or draws more off-ball attention than Lauri? There were times when three Suns players committed to take away his back door cuts. I'm sure that as the season progresses, the rest of the team will learn to better capitalize on those moments. I really liked that Lauri kept on running non stop even if the initial action didn't yield any results.

Without a doubt, his playing style is absolutely exhausting.
Yup.

And there's a future where Lauri and Clayton are doing this kind of stuff away from the ball on both sides of floor. It's GSW stuff.

The thing about how Lauri is playing- none of it seems unsustainable. He is doing regular Lauri things- he just doesn’t have other quick trigger vets (less efficient ones at that) taking the available shots.

It is definitively HIS team and Keyonte is also generally less frantic in looking for his own shot.

Lauri is likely to sustain numbers near where he has been these first three games this whole season- at least until Ace starts consuming more of the oxygen in the offense.

Now that Klay is washed, no one.
