LJJazzman, thank you for the neg rep. I won't be childish and neg you back but I'm curious, since your rep stated as much, where did I say one shouldn't be emotional over what happened to George? I have no problem with anyone being emotional over this. For me, I wouldn't even have a problem with someone welling up or crying a bit. But to sob in your dad's arm is for me, for the third time, a bit much. I'm sorry you can't distinguish between all that.

Irving at 22 is still just a kid. Syracuse players were crying when Ware broke his leg as well. You might have seen this before, but this might be the most horrific thing they've seen in their young lifetimes. Give him a break (no pun intended).

Wow. Your story is nuts. I don't know how to ask this sensitively so I'll just ask. Did you think you were going to die as the snow came barreling down at you? That had to be terrifying.

It wasn't a big avalanche but as I was taken almost 1000 vertical feet I was thinking about the possibility of being buried and especially the possibility that I would end up in the crevasse(bergschrund) that was below me at the bottom of the pitch. All this while I could feel my ski boot beating up my upper body since the only thing holding my leg on was skin. Yes I was freaking. Luckily I made it over the crevasse and ended up on the surface of the snow. When I stopped the pain wasn't bad at all and I remained real calm except for trying to dig the snow that was packed into my mouth out. I'm not sure but I really don't think I ever went into shock and instead a "what's next" attitude came over me, which involved being set up for rescue from the helicopter. As skiing was my career I came to an instant conclusion that my career was almost certainly over. I personally know about 25 people that have died from skiing so my attitude throughout the ordeal and recovery was fairly positive, but it was definitely a defining moment in my life that I would really love to have a do-over on. I'm sure PG is freaking out but my guess is if it is just bone he will benefit from the doctors giving him a very good prognosis for a 100% recovery.

What is childish about giving you a neg rep? Isn't that kind of the point of reps, giving a positive or a negative one depending on if you strongly agree or disagree with a post and personally think it is rep worthy? I've given out maybe 4 neg reps since they system has been in place and I believe the one I gave you to be the most worthy.

You did compare it to being 14 year old girl because he is crying. That is making fun of him for crying over this situation which I think is ridiculous. I've seen horrific things in my life, loss of life, and worse injuries, but those experiences have made me more sympathetic to these situations, not more immune. So what if there are worse injuries out there, this one LOOKED about as bad as it gets. And the circumstances behind it all make it even worse.
So what if he does have 90 million dollars, there is a lot more to happiness then millions of dollars, especially to a professional athlete. I'd don't feel as bad for him as I would say a rookie who this happened to but I still feel awful. I also totally understand other players feeling bad for him. For Irving that may have been the worst thing he has ever seen. It also could have easily happened to him. If any players wants to cry over this I totally understand it and I don't judge them.

The nba is brutal on your body. While football is overall just a devastating sport... Bball is terrible for your legs and joints. My ankle has never been the same since I badly sprained it 10+ years ago in high school.

Sometimes, gaining lean muscles can throw the body out of balance, and then the structure can't carry the load. It is not about the mass of the muscle alone, but the sheer energy it creates. Combine that with the mass, and the result is a force the bones and other structural elements are not built and trained to sustain. Those are exactly the things addressed at P3.

Agreed, any time you land off balance at a high velocity the bones and joints will be absorbing the load, not the muscle. Lankier guys seems more at risk.

Seriously, your post is just pure BS. NO training would have prevented an injury. George was running full speed, jumped awkwardly, and his foot caught the stanchion sideways. Bones or ligaments were going to give way with hitting an immovable object at that angle with that much force.

Well this wasn't a NBA court the basket standard was about 2 feet closer then most NBA basket standards, so if even with the tight dimensions everybody is worried about this wouldn't have happened given the extra room PG would've had.

So even if what people are saying is true this injury might not be the best example to use.
