Possible Kanter trades?

Everyone talks about Kanter slimming down but the 245-250 he hit before his shoulder injury is probably as thin as he can really get. He just isn't quick enough to play the 4 full-time. If his outside shooting improves, then it might not matter. See: Memo Okur, etc.

As for the suggested trade, a future first round pick is very valuable even if will likely be a late first round pick.

But I don't know if that is the right trade.

I think we'll have to wait and see if Kanter has improved. Or maybe he is a just a backup.

Kanter's biggest problem on defense is his positioning. He can't guard someone facing up or when they post up.

Also comes into play when he guards the pick and roll. Overcommits, has arms apparently glued to his hips (making sure the guard has a nice passing lane), and then is slow to rotate.

I'm not a big Kanter fan, but unless you get something decent I wouldn't move him now as his value is fairly low. My issues with him are he doesn't stretch the floor although some on this board will have you think he's the next Dirk, but Corbin wouldn't let him shoot and the ball seems to stick with him. He doesn't do anything fast.

I think the defense can come and remember him showing some promise his second year when he was in great shape. Defense is part effort part technique and skill. If his conditioning improves his effort will as well. I have hope for Kanter, but I think worst case scenario he is a super sub that destroys bench bigs. Unfortunately we will likely have to pay him like a starting center which may be a problem.

I'd do a heat check with Milwaukee and see if they'd give Us john Henson and a 2nd rounder for kanter.

I'd probably take Henson straight up and I think Kanter will have a decent bounceback season.

The value on the original trade idea in this thread is way off base.

The Cavs might do Bennett for Kanter but there's no way they'd add all those picks.

Not so fast. If Kanter can slim down and be a lot more mobile - he can still play the offensive/stretch 4 type role in the NBA. His strength is that he does have a pretty nice & consistent stroke, and a potential to step out and hit the 3pt shot.

As long as he's not made to play the Center position where he's required to main the paint, he can still be a productive player in this league.

Why you want big time bruiser slimming down are you crazy? Kanter needs add like 50 pounds muscle and smash mother ****ers like Boss Man Shaquille. He is big like Shack he will play game like brick **** shack

One more things. Kanter regressed when he goes onto silly man slim diet. He was elite rebounding when he is big and strong like a real man. Today he sucks with grabbing boards because little men like Chandler Parsons push him over.

Why does everyone think Kanter is a good shooter? He's really average. Booker shot better from mid-range last year.

I'd take Bennett straight up... he appears to be in better shape and was used as a 3 last year. He's a four and seemed to get it last year. All of this would be contingent on my medical staff telling me his asthma (I think he has asthma) wasn't an issue in our altitude.

Lol @ people not wanting Bennett.

Y'all need to wake up. Bennett isn't a bust.

It's clearly obvious that a lot of you have no clue how to evaluate talent and your opinion is based solely on rumors and what someone else said.

I'd trade Kanter for Bennett straight up. All day.

He had about as rough of a start as anyone could have. Had an injury, gained weight, diagnosed with sleep apnea, and was played out of position. I think everyone tuned out after that.

He didn't set the world on fire, but he got better. i think he has a lot of potential and if you could buy low on him I would.

#1 pick that can only get 12mpg on a crappy team, and shoots 35% and 25% from 3.
Was he playing under Corbin or something?

I'm not saying he's a bust yet, but this is a number 1 pick we are talking about here. Something is not adding up.

What's not adding up is that's not how to evaluate talent. If you actually watched the guy play, you would know that he can shoot, and he is a good player.

The Cavs are just retarded, and didn't give him a legit shot at playing. The Cavs had a log jam at his position and were in a win now mode. He started off the season on a cold shooting streak, and then that's when all the talk him being a bust came about. He was then sent to the bench to rot instead of giving him a chance to develop. Later in the year when he got more shots, he proved he could play.

Bennett is going to be a very good player. Cavs aren't going to just give him away.

Bennett looked more fluid in SL. Looks like he has been working hard. It would be a big gamble to take him on, but it may pay off big. I havr not given up on Kanter though. Although I dont think kanter and favors complement each other, especially on the defensive end...

You could be right, you could be wrong.

CJ Miles and plenty of others have had a sweet looking shot too, they just didn't put it in at a good rate and the Jazz coaches didn't use him right, amirite?

Hayward starts every season in a "cold shooting streak" and his shot looks pretty sweet. It didn't seem to help him out last year how pretty his form was, it still needs to go in.
Marion has one of the ugliest shots on the planet, but he gets a pass because against all odds he finds a way to be fairly effective in getting his shots to go.

Seeing how good a shot looks sounds good, but it doesn't prove much. It's one small sign in a hundred that it's possible he can find a way to be decent.

Centers are meant to be rim protectors and power forwards need to be able to open the floor by hitting from 15 feet or more. I have been saying Kantor, if drafted by us, should be a power forward before he was drafted.

Well with LeBron James (assuming this was a deal with Cleveland) he better suited with a 5 that can stretch the floor. Kanter biggest issue is defense.

You would assume this, but it depends.
In 2012 the Heat had Joel Anthony who didn't really spread the floor.
In 2013 the Heat didn't play a C per se so if Bosh was considered the C, he didn't spread the floor and neither did Haslem.

The people that could spread the floor for the Heat would have been whoever was playing the 1 and 2, and if James slid over to the 4, whoever came in as the 3... but not the 5 or 4 spots.

I chose those years as those are the two championship years.

I've always thought Kanter should be about 400 lbs. Kind of like that Baby Shaq guy from Greece:
