Potential Trade Targets

Its listed as a player option so not sure that is true unless you have a source. I think he is an expiring next year. Now insurance may cover his contract or a percentage of that but it doesn't help the cap.

I believe it does….just like Chris Bosh’s contract did not count against the cap. I guess the issue I’m seeing with it is that it takes a long time to verify that it is a career ending injury, and Lonzo might not actually be under that designation.

Oh... so like the medical retirement route... I don't know that he would play along with that. Not that he has to (I don't know) but if he was playing in games next year which I think is his plan... then its a tough argument. Maybe he has had a setback and its over?

Bosh's was a little different because he wasn't ever cleared to play again I believe.

bucks lost to rockets despite Gianni’s dropping 47/13. They need more bench production. Clarkson was linked to bucks before. Next game could be tryout?
They don't need bench productions. They have plenty. They need defense because they can't guard anybody. Same goes for Hawks. As much as we want to offload Clarkson he's simply not a good fit for either of these two teams. He does fit with the Knicks but they will try to fleece us every opportunity they get after the Donovan trade debacle.

Hawks are doing a retool imo... so forget what they need. I think they just try and maximize whatever assets they can get for Bogey, Murray, Capela.... and retool from there. They will hold those guys if they don't get a good return. Quin would be happy to have a familiar friend to tell others what a great coach he is.

Bucks are a bad fit. Hard to match contracts. Knicks might be the best fit. GS I think is a solid fit since they need more creators.

The issue with the Nets is they don't own their own picks... so why rebuild. May as well wait out a couple years. They have a great roster if they were to land a guy like Donovan and I think that could happen in a couple ways. If Cleveland takes it all the way to FA I think Nets can outright sign him. They may get him cheaper than you think if Don finally does the trade demand with preferred destinations.
To get more picks.

I think their roster kind of sucks tho.

maybe eventually but their most meaningful trade chip by a wide margin is Bridges. His value ain't going anywhere for 12 or so months so why move him now? See if you can get "the guy" in the offseason first. Then rebuild.

Now if you mean move DFS, Royce, Claxton for value? Sure... Royce and Claxton are expiring so may not come back and if you can get a solid first for DFS that works. Time is on their side with Bridges cuz there is no value to tanking at least for a couple years. If someone comes with a stupid good offer then go ahead.

I honestly think Mikal is a little overrated. If I were BKN, I would try to move for Don and swap those two players.

I invented Collins for Ball. Also, if there’s a parallel universe where we trade for Bridges, I hope we include Sensabaugh in the deal, just because.

Nah if you trade for Don put those two together. They homies and Nets can be the 6 seed for like 4-5 years in a row and call it a win.

Mikal is awesome. Not overrated at all imo. If he's your third best player you can win a title. Plays every game. Great contract. If a team rolled out a Rudy of Don package then by all means move him now.

If the Knicks are not going to seriously bid on Don I might think the Nets could potentially put together a good enough package for him without including Bridges.

The Heat might be the only other serious bidder assuming he hits the trade block in the summer with only one year left on his contract.

It would be nice, but even if you can't pair those two.....Don >>>> Mikal imo. Mikal as a higher usage player is vastly overrated, and who knows if he wants to get back to playing defense + smaller offensive role. I don't know if those two actually have equal value, but I would say Mikal is overrated in comparison to Don for sure.

Value in trade and value on court are different and there are just a lot of factors. Right now I would say they value is equal-ish but next summer I'd rather have Mikal... just an extra year on that deal and will make half as much over the first two years (assuming you retain Don). We should want Don to stay in Cleveland through this season imo as his trade value will take a decent decline as an expiring contract... maybe it falls to the point they just decide not to move him and ride it out.

Now when we traded Don... he definitely had more value than Mikal, but there is no urgency for Brooklyn to move Mikal right now especially in a move that is lateral-ish.
