Predict the Rudy Gobert trade

When he was traded for future value, of course not. Any contract that can be traded for value is not terrible by definition. If you believe Gobert can be traded for value, which you yourself implied by insisting that Hunter is in the trade, that is not a terrible contract.

Just because a team was dumb enough to trade value for it doesn’t mean it’s not a terrible contract.

That’s like saying Royce is a great player just because someone would give us a pick for him.

I think I like Pat Williams as an asset more than Okongwu because of the positional value, but I'm a total believer in Okongwu. I think he'll be the best player of the 3. I think if you come away with Pat or Okogwu + stuff you don't feel terrible about a Gobert trade given the circumstances. I think you referred to pat as a Hail Mary, but to me these guys are more like screen passes. High percentage of getting good yardage, but also a slight chance of breaking out a big play. I feel both are firmly future starters with slight chances of being all star players. Hunter I just don't think is worth including in a trade because he will cost more than he's worth (both in trade value and his next contract). He'll be 25 next year with the knees of a 35 year old.
But its 3rd and 15 bro!!!! Screen PASS!!!! I kid.

Looked at Okongwu's numbers and splits because I hadn't seen him play in forever. He's been a lot better than I thought... I way undersold him. Just needs to stay on the damn court. Hawks medical staff must be garbage... seems like all their guys get hurt. I might be more inclined for a deal where they send Collins elsewhere and the focus of the deal is Onyeka, contract fluff, and draft capital.

No it's like saying Royce is a good contract because someone would give us a pick for him.

"Mitchell doesn't bend the defense to his will. Even Lopo just acknowledged that all opponents have to do is double-team him, and Mitchell can't make the offense work."

So bending the defense to his will is the definition of dominating to you?

NBA teams who want to win a ring in 2023 or 2024 won't care about 2026.

Lol we are not targeting teams who want to win a ring in 2023 we are targeting teams who want to make the playoffs or get to the 2nd round.

I like Collins, but I can see the concerns about him as well. It wouldn't surprise me if ATL has hesitation to trade for Rudy because they believe in Okongwu. I think there's a good chance that he's better than Capela next year....if he wasn't already.

There is spectrum between great and garbage. You don't need to be a great player to have positive value.

"All opponents have to do is double team him".... if that's what works, that's not Don's fault. That's now what I was saying at all. That's the fault of roster construction. I don't want to blame individual players, but you know the culprits.

No good NBA team's player should be able to be double teamed without getting severely burned.
