Preseason conclusions after two games

This might be over-emotional, but I'd even consider starting MILLSAP/JOHNSON-BURKS-HAYWARD over BURKE-BURKS-HAYWARD. Let Millsap or Johnson totally disrupt things on the defensive end, and tell them to pull the trigger on open corner3s. We need a floor-spreader who knows he's the fifth option. Millsap did well as a starter last year.

I'm all for Burke being replaced, but Millsap/Johnson don't add passing and not fast enough for decent PGs. Thus, I'll agree with Amin Elhassan's earlier predictiont that Neto will start for Jazz before end of season... or maybe before Christmas

Burks is faster and better ball handler than Millsap/Johnson, so I can see a Burks/Millsap/Hayward lineup for D, but in the 3 Wing scheme, Millsap will not be the one replacing Burke

PS: Don't think Johnson will make it into the season. And probably not Cotton either. With 3 Wing approach, we'll operate w/ 2 PG and look for Burke upgrade by February

We're keeping Millsap and Withey!

Agreed with most of your post...good job. Neto was useless on offense...is bull hockey. He had some great assist.

Dennis Lindsey blew the Kanter trade. We got three rather poor backup centers for a max player. You have to be kidding me. Just because someone was dumb enough to give Kanter the money...we know his real value. Also, who wants a player that admits he did not give 100%, when he was with us. I sure the hell don't.

I personally don't think Kanter is worth a max contract, but he is a max player. The market says so (twice!) I'm glad he's gone, but I still have the feeling like we should have gotten more for him.

Neto had a pretty sweet drive and assist to Pleiss. I don't think I said he's useless, I just think the offense slowed down quite a bit when he came in (but I believe when he came in Burke, Burks and maybe Hayward went out...so he shouldn't get all the blame.) I just observed there was a lot more ball movement before he came in, and I watched him dribble the ball at the top of the key for 5-6 seconds two possessions in a row. It is his first week, I'll give him some time to figure out the offense. I was probably a bit harsh. But he's definitely got to learn to shoot.

The Jazz traded the right to pay Kanter $70 million. It's amazing they got anything out of it. Kanter's contract is virtually untradeable now.
This is as succinctly as I've ever heard it stated. Well done, KD.

And the best part is that DL got one of our most legitimate conference rivals to pay the bill. WOW!!!

I think we have a strong team but we're strong when compared to the last few years. We have a ways to go, but going in the right direction. PG position needs an upgrade first and foremost. We need to add depth to the bench and talks it from there. Our bench is ok but can't compete with the depth of the west.

I think if there's one thing every Jazz fan can agree on it's that we need to be better at the PG position.

As for the depth, Hood & Lyles and maybe even Neto/Burke (assuming we had a starting PG) would be a solid core off the bench. Ingles and Pleiss are both not NBA players. Millsap is a 15th man/defensive specialist, so ideally we need to replace Ingles with a wing who isn't a liability on defense and can create offensively.
