Radio Personalities

Glenn has been on radio 8 years?

I only heard about him 2 years ago. I've been amused by he and Stu's banter on the radio when I have listened. Their mockery of liberals is especially hilare.

We haven't had him here for eight years that I know of. A cousin of mine was an early associate of Rush in his Sacramento days. . . . . and had a falling out, and now says Rush has moved from being an equal critic of both parties to a critic who specializes on one side. I consider that a misuse of that "brain". A lot of us are partisan because it's just too much trouble to be against everybody, but we need critics of both sides, all sides, or whatever "sides" there are, besides the simple rah rah rah loyalists.

I think Beck is in deeper than he knows how to swim, and is probably just being managed to ride the conservative "wave". There are a number of conservatives who consider him to be an inadequate advocate for their position.

You may be right about their situations, but if you have the main stream media being critical of only the Republican president, then you have talk radio being critical of only the Democrat president...it sort of "balances" out...I hate to use that word...all presidents need critics from somewhere. If the main stream media refuses to do their job, which is to be critical of all politicians on both sides then someone has to fill that void.

I think the political world is amusing, if you can forget how much they have screwed things up.

It's an oasis of sanity in a medium that celebrates those unmoored from reality.

I don't listen to NPR and am a little curious. I guess I can't get over the constantly monotone, spa-like ambiance they're trying to produce to enjoy much of it. My question is, by "unmoored" do you mean hosts wouldn't get so unnerved by a two year tax policy that they couldn't work and ended up puking over it? Unmoored that way? The reason I ask is every single person I know who listens to NPR on a regular basis is pretty much volatile, unpredictable, and explodes from time to time (100 % track record). This is just another reason I've avoided listening to much of it. NPR doesn't exactly attract the most sane among us. This is why I'm a little more than surprised by your proud advertisement. It doesn't really matter though. I always say to each his own, and, we all indulge in at least a little thought confirmation once in a while. Some cannot get enough.

Welcome to the board, BABE! Ya wanna tell us a bit bout yo self, eh?

why thank you for the welcome.

I'm a Jazz fan from Day One because I knew someone who worked for the organization in the marketing/radio/TV management from the start. He's still kicking, but retired years ago. I couldn't escape hearing all about it whenever I saw him.

I'm also in sales, but working for a startup company right now. I know a lot of radio folks from my work. . . . "On the road again. . . ." around the west generally. I for one and glad radio found a niche that has got a lot of folks listening, and thinking. I'd like to see America really be a land of opportunity for everyone. Even those who don't think the way I do. Those are the folks who help me clarify my thinking the most.

I am psyched at how good the Jazz are doing this year. A lot better than I dared hope last June.

So, I hope to get to know ya'll.

Go Jazz!!!!!

Apparently you missed the rest of that post where I disclosed that I was ill beforehand.

Either that or you're continuing your long-standing campaign to take the title of "board's biggest ego" from me. It's mine. You can't have it.

If you must derail... Yes, I'm aware of you entering defense mode after the fact. Someone called you on something yet again, and yet again you became defensive, abandoned your story, and added insulation as fast as you could. By the way, you're a great punter but you could learn a lesson or two from Mr. Archie Moses about ensuring enough ambiguous protection that you're never wrong, regardless.

Back to what I care about--I'm curious about NPR. I'm hoping a well rounded and unbiased individual will offer an assessment. Taking the appraisal of a results driven ideologue is about as good as buying into the sanity story of a Rush Limbaugh fan. If anyone fits the description then please apply.

I'm a big Ben Bagley fan. His insight and questions never fail to amaze me.

"So, Deron, you scored 35 points tonight. How did that feel?"
"So, Francisco, you blocked 2 shots tonight, did that make you feel good?"
"So, Jerry, you won the game tonight. How did it feel?"

Journalistic gold!

"Ummmm that's not an educated fan."

"Carlos Boozer worked his *** off for this franchise!"

I aint unbiased, and I don't never listen to no NPR, Frank, but some peoples seem to think they're a buncha hypocrites, eh? Either way, I git the impression that they are the PC kings. From the Wall Street Journal:

"Critics of National Public Radio expressed disbelief and outrage today as word of the public radio network’s decision to fire long-time commentator Juan Williams for comments he made this week about how he sometimes gets nervous on airplanes when he sees people in Muslim-style clothing on board....NPR released a statement late Wednesday night that Mr. Williams’ remarks “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices...

"MSNBC host (and former Republican congressman) Joe Scarborough also defended Williams on Twitter, saying that “as a longtime fan of NPR, I find their intolerance distressing."

Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee: “While I have often enjoyed appearing on NPR programs and have been treated fairly and objectively, I will no longer accept interview requests from NPR as long as they are going to practice a form of censorship, and since NPR is funded with public funds, it IS a form of censorship,” he wrote. “It is time for the taxpayers to start making cuts to federal spending, and I encourage the new Congress to start with NPR.”

Theys a video at that site where Williams discusses his dimissal from NPR
