I hope Kawai goes to the Lakers and we sweep them in the playoffs.

Imagine trading Favors and getting 2 2nd round picks, Bojan, Jeff Green, and Ed Davis. Yeesh

Jist looking at Conley trade only. I'd probably only give a C.

But Conley+Bojan?

Then + Ed Davis + Jeff Green + Mudiay?

Anything less than an A would've been an absolute insult to FO's effort.

C-

Jazz gave up a lot for potentially only one year of Conley. I think the risk he opts out and the Jazz are forced to either a) lose him or b) sign him to a big 4-year deal is understated. If you assume AD stays in LA, Conley & Draymond look to be the best potential UFAs in the 2020 class. If he has a good year, there's very little reason for Conley not to opt out and trade some 2020-21 salary for much more $$ long-term.

The advanced metrics don't like Bojan. The BBIndex guy had the Jazz w/52 wins w/Favors and 48 w/Bojan. I get the idea that you can find 80% of Favors (Davis) more cheaply than you find a high quality stretch 4, and I understand there are fit issues w/Derrick next to Gobert. Still, I think the contract is poor value, and it's hard for me to picture a frontcourt with the athleticism of Bojan/Ingles advancing super deep into the playoffs.

I think Green and especially Davis were good pickups. I guess there's something to be said for mixing things up and taking a shot, but I suspect the Jazz will bow out in Round 2. They haven't done anything franchise crippling, but they've sacrificed some long-term assets and flexibility and not greatly enhanced their chances of winning the West, imo.

Hope I'm wrong.

I honestly like this post.

Good to see someone pump the brakes a bit.

B+ to A-

Plug the hole at PF and it's an A+

So, @Jason @Pastramiking @Pouyan @themanknownassting and @campaignist

Why a B? What is missing for you to consider this at least an A? Where can we improve?

Honest question. Not a trap lol

NPC laid out a lot of my reasoning but I'm more optimistic. I'm just not 100% sold on Bojan, especially for the deal he got. It feels like we got a better version of Jingles in a way (not a bad thing) but I think we'll miss Favors more than we realize. For example he helped make our matchup with Denver a lot easier, and now I'm not sure. They're one of our main competitors this year so that's a big deal. Our offense is a lot better but I'm worried about the defense and rebounding. Maybe scoring more makes up for that. There's a reason Jeff Green has bounced around so much - fans need to be ready for him to look amazing every fifth game and mediocre to bad the other 4.

I definitely trust the front office and I've had more faith in them than most for a long time. Maybe I'm just irrationally attached to Favors, and I wanted to see how he'd look with Conley on the team, and how the offense in general would look. Maybe Bojan just wasn't what I had in mind this season. I think a lot of people wanted change for change's sake at 4 and I didn't need it as much. I'm cautiously optimistic and I need to see the team in action.
