Rookie Contract Power Rankings

This time next week Cody will be the future goat. Then the season will come and half of Jazzfanz will be jumping off buildings yelling good bye cruel world. Lol

The length of a lineup with ace - Cody- Hendricks- Kessler will be interesting.

If you replace Kessler with Flip, there'd be enough defensive length to help compensate for Flip's lack of defensive presence, since Hendricks and Ace are secondary rim protectors. Then you'd add Flip's playmaking and shooting on offense. The lane would be open for Ace to go to work.

I'm also betting that Flip will improve a little bit on defense.

I didn't find Locke's glazing that convincing. It's not like Cody is the first ever prospect to ever have a long wing span. There's so much emphasis on his brother and his theoretical beefy self, but not much about his actual basketball skill.

Yeah I agree here. I think he's reaching (a tad) and just trying to find content to talk about to some extent.

I think that's fine I don't disagree with everything he said, but the "Jalen is big so he will also be big" is doing so much heaving lifting whereas "he needs to be able to shoot and dribble" can't just be an afterthought.

One point I did agree with Locke on is that his motor needs to be higher and that's kind of inexcusable regardless of his current frame. What I didn't agree with is that he answered those questions about doing things besides scoring, specifically his rebounds. It's great that he had 8 rebounds in a single SL game, but as a whole his rebounding volume was not that great over SL. To his credit, his steals were pretty good, but steals is one of the least sticky numbers and does not have much carryover from SL to the NBA.

  1. Walker Kessler
  2. Kyle Filipowski
  3. Ace Bailey - I'm excited about Bailey. He's not as sure a thing as Kessler or Flip who have proven themselves on the court, so until he does so..
  4. Brice Sensabaugh - Best shooter of the bunch. Saw a better effort on D during summer camp, so reason for hope there.
  5. Isaiah Collier - Tough call between Collier and Clayton. Went with Collier because I'm excited about his vision / passing, which Clayton doesn't have to the same degree. Gotta learn to shoot. Give him another year.
  6. Walter Clayton Jr - Great prospect. Should be great having these two swapping time. PG will be a strength going forward I think.
  7. Taylor Hendricks - Not as high on him as some I've seen. I don't remember him coming anywhere near to dominating anything before he got injured, and with a year's layoff? Potential is there.
  8. Keyonte George - Not. a. fan. Whiney little *****.
  9. Cody Williams - Summer league did not convince me. Hope I'm wrong.
  10. John Tonje?? – No idea

I believe that Key has the tools to become a capable defender and an elite shot maker I’ve been a keynote homer since he got drafted though my profile picture hasn’t changed since his rookie year of summer league lol

That’s even worse. He has the tools but has chosen to be lazy af and not give a damn. The guy is so overrated and considered by so many on this board.

Very rarely does the “sucks at defense but has the tools for defense” ever get much better. Yes defensive ability is tied to length and athleticism, but it’s also a skill like everything else.
