We'd have to send picks to get Dame. In that respect, FVV is "free". I'd much rather go out and buy FVV than dump assets to get Dame. Not convinced with FVV. If we have to break the bank, i rather for for Dame. Risky choice in both cases...

Bobby Marks did a Raptors offseason analysis that talked about FVV a lot. The cliffnotes:
-FVV turned down a 4-year $114 million extension (that's a hair under $30 million per year on average, so I would imagine he declines his option and hits free agency)
-FVV has played the second-most minutes of anyone in the league over the past three seasons.
-FVV leads the league in miles covered per game over the past three seasons
So you gotta pay him well above $120m/4 seasons to get him, but he is about to turn 30, is one of the smallest guys in the entire league, and might grind himself to dust.
I don't know about the whole thing. On the one hand, the Jazz are positioned to roll some dice in free agency with their cap sheet the way it is, an influx of rookie-scale players, and a cap lift in 2025. On the other hand, there is still the matter of opportunity cost: the Jazz don't have infinite opportunities to roll dice, a wasted roll takes some serious ammunition out of the chamber. That cap sheet merely allows them to survive without jettisoning assets if it goes bad (which is better than the alternative), but it could also be a millstone that prevents the team from reaching its ceiling.
Players in their 30's drive me nuts when trying to anticipate their trajectories. Some guys are effective well into their mid-thirties, and some guys fall of a cliff over the course of one or two seasons. But if you're assessing a player, you can lean on good shooters and players that have plus size for their position (and might be able to shift up a position to compensate for lost athleticism). FVV has the former but has **** all for the latter.
Bruce Brown is the most interesting attainable name imo. Josh Hart too, but I think NYK is going to re-sign him. From all reports the team is committed to a starting lineup of Lauri, Kessler, and Agbaji next year. If that is the case then we really need some strong passing/connectors at the other positions. Here are the free agents who are 30 or younger, have assist Ratio's over 21%, and a TS% over 56%, (league average):
- Ayo Dasunmu (Restricted)
- Coby White (Restricted)
- Raul Neto
- Bruce Brown (Player Option)
- Donte Divencenzo (Player Option)
- Ty Jerome (Restricted)
- Frank Kaminsky
- D'Angelo Russell
- Austin Reaves (Restricted)
- Jevon Carter (Player Option)
- Austin Rivers
- NAW (Restricted
- Josh Hart (Player Option)
- Shake Milton
Unfortunately I don't see a lot of realistic upgrades over THT and KO. I just checked and FVV didn't make the list since his TS% was 54%, maybe the 56% cutoff was too high?

I think the biggest area for improvement is going to come defensively, especially if you arent re-signing Clarkson and you instead are able to get a Bruce Brown or Josh Hart. When I look at that list I'm thinking that it will be difficult to improve our team significantly next year. I'm also curious how we plan to use this capspace that we prioritized when we moved Mike Conley.
