I have no sympathy for the guy, his NBA career is over, his career as a professional sportsman might be over. (He might get a contract somewhere in Europe.)

But!!!!

Other parties bear some responsibility for what is about to happen to this young man, this is a 23 year old that is about to have his life pulled apart in the press without any support. The NBA, the rockets and the sports media will treat him as a pariah, these are the very people that have profited from him and exploited his basketball talent. The culture of winning at all cost in elite programs needs to put its hand up and cop some of this too. People would have known about his character faults long before he reached the spotlight of the NBA, probably before college and probably even before he reached high school but I bet nobody in any of the elite programs he was in held him accountable for his behaviours because he helped them win.

Its not just the NBA it happens across a whole bunch of sports, football (soccer), NFL, Australian football, terrible behaviours, abuses of women and so on covered up to keep the wins coming in. Win at all costs. Well Kevin Porter Jr. and likely his family, his ex-girlfriend are all about to have very, very public private lives and I'm pretty sure none of them will feel like winners at the end of it.

Dude its totally ****ed and if its that bad he should ****ing do time, I think at the moment 2 Australian women are killed a week by their partner, DV is the leading cause of hospitalisation for women under 40. He's a ****. My point is everyone knew this a long time ago and I bet a whole heap of it was covered up because others could profit from it. Those people need to own their part in this too, not ****ing one of them will.

I doubt he is completely discarded. He will be back in the NBA at some point most likely unless he takes this and really spirals down.

I'm with you... KP Jr. has so many issues so it was always a buyer beware type deal. Not sure if they knew about this stuff or if this was the first time... its completely fair to be skeptical of any of the organizations though. The NBA as a whole obviously doesn't want to shine a light on this stuff so they have their part in sweeping it under the rug.

As a father of 3 daughters - they should make a law that if you do this and the woman's parents have a week or two to hunt you down and whatever they do has no legal penalty. There was a dad I know that told me he seriously weighed the consequences of taking care of an idiot before deciding it would not be worth it... when he told me about the situation I thought to myself... ya know... he's not wrong or crazy. I hope I never have to consider it.

A cousin of mine killed herself after getting out of a horribly abusive relationship, she was 21, so many women i know have been abused by their partners. It has to stop.

The guy I know that contemplated it went and met with a dude that is absolutely the dude that can make stuff like that happen if he wanted... he's a standup guy but just had high level positions with entities that you know he just knows ****... he told him to sit and talk with him for a while and if he hasn't calmed down that he'd go with and make sure they got the job done... it was tongue in cheek... I think.

Not sure how suspensions work and if the Rockets still have to dump the money into the NBA fund but my guess is he gets suspended this year without pay... so Rockets won't cut him immediately but yeah he getting waived as soon as its financially prudent.

Darren Collison/Mikal Bridges/Matt Barnes/Jason Kidd/Ron Artest among others. He just averaged 19-6-5.

Miles Bridges not Mikal... but most of those guys were in a different era or more talented. I don't remember the Barnes one tbh...

I think the mix of issues, plus these charges, plus he has never played on a good team... so he may just be a looter in a riot. I think it will be a few years and I doubt he can hold it together that long.

We will see if TMZ gets hold of video or pics and that's when it becomes more real for some. I doubt teams will think the talent is worth the headaches and the massive PR hit.

Miles Bridges is a much much much better player and played on functional teams... and plays the most coveted position in the league. KP hasn't played for anything other than pure trash teams trying to lose. Will be shocked if he keeps his head above water long enough to get through this one.

He will have to manage it like Terence Davis and the Zinger and pay for it to go away… then hope no other info comes out and everyone forgets about it. If pics or video come out he’s in real trouble and TMZ is just too good at getting that stuff.

Based on the rep he’s built I just don’t see this being the last bad thing that happens. I’ll be surprised if he plays again.

Miles is a much better player… not that what he did was better but as far as nba opportunities go… if you are really good teams will be more likely to give additional chances.

Bridges was on the verge of getting a max contract if he hadn’t had his issues… KP is not anywhere near him as a player. I really think he’s cooked.
