Sometimes in life, things happen...on accident. I take great car of my car but once or twice a year I misjudge the distance from the curb and scraaaape...albeit a small one but still.

Yeah it gets worse as you get more rural, and it gets far more pronounced the more time I spend away from Utah. I don't think I ever spoke like that while I lived there, but I notice it a lot more now that I am not so Utah sheltered and have spent a fair amount of time in other parts of the country. Going back now the "rill" instead of "real" jumps out at you a lot. Rilly.
 
Here they tie it to southern Utah, but I have heard it from Logan to Provo and further south. Especially "mel" instead of "mail" and "rill" instead of "real".

We're clearing out my in-laws house in NY and my sister-in-law is taking stuff to UPS to be packed and shipped to us. So a manila envelope that's filled with photos, cards and letters is cocooned in a massive amount of bubble wrap, then put in a fairly large box with a bunch of styrofoam packing peanuts. Fragile stuff, those cards and letters - - wouldn't want them to break! We got two of those envelopes, each packed in their own box.

There were also the two glass paperweights, each wrapped in bubble wrap until they were the size of soccer balls. Then each was put in a box filled with styrofoam packing peanuts.

Not to mention the static cling produced by the styrofoam bits.

I think that a person question's his or her own lifestyle more in the presence of Mormons, which definitely helps strengthen the 'I'm better than you' feeling. Not saying that it doesn't exist (because it definitely does), but a lot of it comes from judgements about the psychology of a particular individual. Unless they come out and say that they're better then you can't really know for sure. I think this feeling is aided just as much by the non-Mormon than the Mormon person him/herself.

Food line is non-debatable. heh

"on accident" - speaking of language idiosyncrasies, I would say "by accident". LOL!!

But speaking of curb scraping and the like, it's becoming a bigger problem around here because a lot of communities build out the curbs at the corners for what is called "traffic calming" - it does slow down the traffic but makes it difficult to make a right turn without going over the curb, especially if there's a car in the other lane.
