The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

Myself? I love florida. Im always trying to get my company to open a facility in miami so I can transfer. Or I would settle for hawaii.

I have some close friends that recently moved near tampa florida. I get pretty jealous when they post pictures of them at the beach while its snowing outside here.
Yeah I get that here without the humidity. Not this year though, way cold and wet. Plus Florida gets hurricanes.

And Floridians are weirdos. There were two distinct "types" of people in the NAVY who came from specific states, Floridians and Texans. Texans are mostly just weird because they have some inherent sense that Texas is great and being a Texan is just super duper special and something to be outwardly proud of. Floridians are weird in a way that the "Florida Man" memes kind of shine a light on. Like they're the ones that will do the stupid dangerous and off the wall type **** as if it's normal. I wouldn't want to be surrounded by Floridians all the time.

The only place in Florida I think I'd ever want to visit would be Miami. If I stayed for 7 days I think it would be a couple day too much for me.

Beaches don't do a ****ing thing for me so there is no draw there.

That's honestly my biggest problem with the show Burn Notice, it glorifies Miami. Well, and Gabrielle Answer looks like she'd break if you look at her wrong.

I haven't seen it. I just say Miami because I think the best Cuban food would be there and the most Cuban culture. There's nothing else about Florida I'd be interested in other than their Cuban population. If I could just go to Cuba I'd be happy to skip Florida.

Dude, I'm making Cubanos tonight. First time I've done it, but I was making some pulled pork last night, and there was a bunch of leftovers, so I thought, "You know what would be good?"

Have you been here? I’m a Tampa resident. I never in my life wanted to live in Florida. Then I got a contract down here and it has been great. Lots of things to do, weather is perfect 6 months of the year, majority of the state is rural, amazing food, diversity everywhere, watch the Jazz in Orlando and Miami (once a year each), cheap flights to everywhere, no state taxes.
I know a lot of people hate our governor and his policies but the state is actually great to visit or live. My wife is an Utah girl and you know how they want to move back as soon as they can. She is fine with staying, that’s how much she likes it here as well.

The scary thing is it might determine which psychopath gets into the white house. We are so ****ed. Lame duck Biden or swamp-man Trump/DeSantis as the next pres? Man this is a rough stretch for the country. Feels like a death-spiral. Did the entire country become one huge "Saw" movie? Where is the clown on the tricycle to tell us what the next game is going to be? Here's hoping for jumper cables on the balls that go off every time you cast a vote!! (that is for @Rubashov of course, he loves that ****)

How dare you?!?!

I hear you. I used to feel the same way about beaches until we moved here and I found that if I can visit a beach without the pressure of "OMG we are vacationing, gotta do all the beach stuff for our vacation, gotta be active and vacationing the whole time" kind of attitude, I have become a real beach bum. Nothing better than just getting out there relatively early, setting up our pop-up awning, and just doing ****ing nothing the whole day in 80 degree weather with light breezes coming off the ocean watching girls in bikinis or occasionally walking in the surf. I have no desire to swim really, never been my thing, but occasionally we will bring boogie boards and I will clean out my sinuses with seawater (worst part, or best maybe?). But for the most part I am all about the slow lazy beach life now. In fact my wife and I are looking into beach shanties for retirement, something small and (relatively) affordable on a beach somewhere where we can just go sit on the beach as much as we like. Very calming.

But we are planning a trip to hawaii in May, and I am actually not excited about going to the beach there. That is a "vacation" beach day, so my wife wants to snorkel in 2 different bays and take a boat thing, and then lay out in the sand then swim in the surf and I am like "ok babe, you have fun, I am just going to lie here and pretend the world doesn't exist".

You guys get snow days, we get hurricane days.
Yeah, in Utah. In Cali, in the 6 years I have lived here, this is our coldest and wettest winter yet, historic for the area in fact. Most winters we get nippy weather enough to make me break out my jacket and make the beaches a bit too cold to get in the water. This is the first time we have seen snow in the valley here, and definitely the most water we have seen. Really the apt comparison is you get hurricanes, we get raging wildfires. Nothing will burn in Florida, way too wet and humid. But everything burns here. Hopefully this huge storm system helps some of that but mostly it will likely make it worse as it promotes a huge burst of undergrowth that can then dry out and be kindling for the next idiot who needs to burn down 3 cities and kill 4 people to show everyone they are having a little girl. Great legacy for that kid, amirite?

As I was reading your post and you mentioned wildfires, if you didn't mention genitalia reveal parties I was going to.
