The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Kings gotta make some decissions as to how they move forward. They dont look or feel like a contender and their 2 best players may both be 2nd banana level.

For the prospect of them paying a high price for Lauri, a 2nd round exit would have been better than a play in exit.

I think its possible that they will be starchasing as well.
It was surprising to me how rough they looked against the Pels. Sometimes in sports there is just that one team you just can’t beat, but they’re issues appear deeper than just that. They need a rim protector or a more athletic PF to play with DS sorely I think…. and a better bench. Just not sure how another big messes with sabonis spacing, probably screws their PnR with him.

Keegan Murray and his lack of lateral movement and defensive intensity is interesting. Davion Mitchell is an example of college talent not translating without adequate size. He couldn’t even guard Jose Alvarado and was supposed to be lockdown. Barnes, lyles, veshenkov, all not good enough or undersized. Also the Kings guards were not able to penetrate and draw enough help to throw pels defense off their shooters making their deficiencies even more apparent.

I like the Kings. Sabonis was awesome for the Zags. Their injuries definitively hurt them this season. I still think they are missing championship caliber pieces and defensive pieces. Interested to see where they go from here.

Bold. NBA team has to make decisions in the future.

I don't think the Kings will feel that much pressure. Then doing this well is still a overall accomplishment
Back to being a douche I see. I wonder how I hurt your feelings this time..

Also missing out on playoffs when your 2 best players missed just 8 games combined isnt an accomplishment.

It is when your a franchise you had a billion losing seasons in a row

Ya I think they underachieved.

Thought for sure they would beat the pelicans without Zion. I wanted them to win as well since I think the pelicans without Zion will get destroyed by OKC but I felt the kings offensive firepower could make the series fun and interesting.

Except they took a step back this year even though they were extremely healthy. That is never a good sign for a team and management feels a ton of pressure right now. The hope was to build on last years really good season and instead they took a step back and didn't make the playoffs.

Extremely healthy is two of their best scorers for the post season? That's crazy

I don't understand why you do this. Yes they were extremely healthy.

Fox played 74 games
Sabonis played 82 games
Murray played 77 games
Barnes played 82 games
Monk played 72 games

Those are their top 5 guys.

But they missed the most important games...

I just wouldn't call it a step back. Might not have been a step forward, but they are overall fine. Not every team has to be a contender

Might not have been a step forward? Not making the playoffs is a big step back and the fact that they were even in the play in after finishing 3rd in the west regular season last year is a huge disappointment. If this were the jazz and we went from 3rd in the west to 9th with the same core group of players then we all would be very disappointed.

Just checked the box score from last night (what I consider an "important game") and I see that 4 of those 5 guys played.

Fox played 42 minutes
Murray played 38
Barnes played 38
Sabonis played 42

Pretty disappointing that a team with those guys didn't beat a pelicans team without Zion imo. (Kings were slight favorites in betting odds last night fwiw)
