The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

It may or may not be right but I get the feeling he is kind of a cat chasing a laser pointer. Offensive oriented bigs who can't shoot have to be like Sabonis, Sengun good to get the big $$$$

I could be out of the loop, but I don't think there has been the same kind of tension between Duren/Pistons as there is Kessler/Jazz. Usually these things get done when both sides like each other. OTOH, I think DET has a better case than we do as far as saving cap space for next summer. If Duren was really asking for "well north of $30M a year" DET was wise to let him prove it.

I think the sharper teams will value Kessler > Duren. But there's definitely going to be some that prefer Duren.

DET is another team that will be out of the honeymoon phase soon and will have to meet expectations.

I think Detroit also has better reason for reservations on a non-stretch big. Cade isn't like a deadeye shooter... Ausar is a non-shooter... Holland struggles there too. If all their building blocks range from complete non-shooter to okayish... its tough to build that way.

I could see Detroit struggling a bit and then maybe making an offer for Lauri or pushing some chips in.

Walker is good at the big man things. If he had a real pg I think the scoring would go up quite a bit. If he improves as a passer and FT shooter... I think top 10 center is within reach. I think we have an opportunity to pay him like a top 20ish center on a team friendly construction and totally just punted. Not many scenarios that are good for us that this doesn't come back to bite us at least a little.

That's fair, and I would definitely watch them as a Lauri team. Ausar has got to be considered their second best player/asset, so he won't be in a Lauri deal. Holland....he kind of interests me. But it's hard to believe in him as a shooter.....really don't like Ivey and not sure how much I really care for a bunch of future DET picks.

Yeah they wouldn't be my first pick of teams I'd want to own picks from but they are so Cade dependent and he's had health issues so who knows. I don't know if we'd take it but my guess would be Ivey, Harris, 2 firsts and 2 swaps (maybe super swap variations). I think they have a pile of seconds as well they could line the deal with.

It doesn't really excite me but if we have Ace and Taylor/Flip look improved... maybe we clear out Lauri. We may also draft someone that plays in that slot this draft.

Is there any chance that Lauri and Ausar (plus salary ballast) could be traded with very little or no draft compensation? Would either team be interested in that?

He's probably not good now, but could be good in like 3-4 years.
Agree. I think in 12 months it could look a little rich or like a bargain. It was pretty universally well liked. I guess most extension are though.

I get the feeling Ausar is basically a dont ask it isn't happening for Detroit. I think we would be interested in that and they would likely pass.
