The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

My prediction for the top-5 guys in the '24 class were Sheppard, Castle, Ware, Cody and Knecht. I'm not completely sold in Buzelis yet, but he's up there, as is Jared McCain in Philadelphia. Another guy is Jaylen Wells from the 2nd round, but I never actually watched him. Filipowski deserves an honorable mention, at the least.

I have no idea what happened to Knecht. He seems to have lost his confidence and aggressiveness. He got a bad start in LA, then got sent back to LA in that rescinded trade with Charlotte. He could probably use a change of scenery at this point.

Pippen Jr is out at least 12 weeks. The Grizzlies are definitely tanking this season. JJJ and Edey are also out

They've still got Ty Jerome and KCP in their backcourt. They'll tread water. But yeah, they're pretty snakebit.

I honestly think the Jazz might be better than Phoenix. They've got Mark Williams and Maluach at the 5. They've got Royce O'Neale and Ryan Dunn at the 4. Dillon Brooks is a dolt.

MEM is going to realize they can't make the playoffs and quit. Remember, they've already traded Bane. They are not necessarily a team that's committed to winning now.

Green out to start the year tho. Very thin on playmaking.

They have Booker, they play better defense than us ( which is not difficult). Still see them in front of us.

Sharpe and Camara extended today. Eason likely extends now that the KD extension is in.

So let’s talk about that cap space we gonna have next year and how Walker might be the best RFA left on the board. Big brain stuff.

Am I seeing it right that the Blazers waived the last year of Camara's rookie scale contract to extend him and pay him early? Or was he just on a 3 year rookie deal?

So, I think Walker might actually be asking for the moon. He either gets the moon from the Jazz, or it might precipitate him getting moved (maybe to the Lakers) which he probably wants, given all of the nonsense the Jazz have been doing.

I guess I hope this is the case as cope for the Jazz most likely just completely fumbling this.

If the deadline was midnight Eastern time to do extensions, then it is official that Kessler is not extended.

ESPN says this:
The deadline for rookie extensions (and for veterans signed past this season) is 6 p.m. ET Monday, roughly 24 hours before the Houston Rockets travel to face the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder to tip off the 2025-26 season.

So still a few hours left. Apparently rosters are also set for the regular season at 5PM ET.

He did have a team option that would have paid him $2M....but IIRC, had they exercised that team option he would have been unrestricted the following year so they just gave him the money now. Jokic had the same thing....second round contract stuff.

POR has some nice pieces and players, but it's really hard to see them getting anywhere in the west. This year could be another honey moon season for them, but if they have real expectations to make the playoffs I think they will disappointed and they may try to make a move for a star.
