Tough Day To Be In Law Enforcement

What’s the clear picture?
I wonder why Unknown is such a large number. If most jurisdictions do not report race, then this report doesn't have quite the value it could. Still, it is obvious blacks are shot at a much higher percentage than whites.

I thought the same thing. I wonder why some's races are released while others aren't.

Just gonna leave this here

You all should really go and check out the tweets Trump sent out 5 hours ago. He boasts about the secret service in such a way that absolutely throws salt in the current wounds. No surprise, of course, because he’s as pure of a ************ as there is.

Mike has been on point for so long. His talks with Bernie were awesome, too. ****, man, that’s what leadership looks like.
I wish the current leader of country was more compassionate, sincere, and actually seemed to care.

As white people are sitting behind their computer screens, from their comfortable homes away from these communities, and feeling good about offering up black communities as a vicarious sacrifice on the alters of racial progress. But they don’t have to deal with the aftermath. Their communities are unaffected. Their way of life unchanged. They can tune out when needed. But they can assuage their own anxieties by making sure they speak up about “allowing black people a voice” by justifying outsiders to come into their communities and burn it down.

This really is just such a mess, honestly. One thing we need to remember is that there are bad-faith actors in white supremacist and boogaloo *****eads (people hoping for a civil war) that are trying to participate in these and stoke the fires to continue escalating the conflict.

Again, what Killer Mike has to say is exactly where I sit: peaceful protests are preferable but we should be understanding of rioting, and certainly, absolutely avoid destroying homes and small businesses.

Not necessarily at all. In his third year out here my buddy cleared 100K as a cop, with all the overtime he took. He probably made around 130-140K by the sixth year as I remember the jumps being high in salary over his next few years. Many cops out here make over 150K once they’ve put in a good ten years. That money, days off, vacation days, pension and lifestyle are far more attractive to someone who doesn’t crave sitting in a cubicle.

And that pension is huge. They can retire by the time they’re 47 (if they start at 22), collect a fat pension and then get another job in the private sector, clearing (yes, clearing) around 150K if not more. That’s after taxes.
I'm sorry but that is anything but the norm for 95% of all policemen in the country. No way that asshat in Minneapolis was making 100k per year.

Here are some basic stats.

https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Salaries/What-Is-the-Average-Police-Officer-Salary-by-State

Looks like it's right around 50k. That's average. Add in another 20% for OT that's 60k. Being an average, that means obviously some make more, some less. And that is largely without anything near the qualifications you listed. Add in that level of education and certification and it really couldn't compete with private sector jobs. Not to mention with the associate risk.

I still think we need to pay more if we want higher qualified people in these jobs. It's about risk vs reward. The reward isn't worth the risk for the kind of people we really want, and need, in these jobs.

Here's a better one. It's pretty varied by state as you would expect.

What's interesting is that the states where we hear more about this kind of **** the pay tends to be lower.
