Trade deadline discussion

The last thing you need to worry about Barnes is feeding him on offense. He's your ultimate low-usage player who has no trouble chilling on the corner for 30min. His 19% usage is tenth lowest on the Kings this season, lower than Tristian Thompson.
Then are you really utilizing the guy well? Like you mentioned... it really only makes sense if we also move Bogey.

Salary wise you would need to move someone next year anyway.

If we do this Barnes thing, I think we have to keep every useful player possible. If we can do it with Ingles, Butler, Hughes and any other small expiring we can give plus a 1st, then let's do it.

I think we will need Royce, Rudy and Clarkson to adequately support a starting lineup of Mike, Don, Barnes, Bojan and Rudy

We would literally be better off trading Clarkson for a bag of chips than we would keeping him, that's how bad he's been on both ends of the court. Addition by subtraction.

I don't know. He's a hot hand guy, and Quin trusts him. I'd rather keep him than just dump him.

I'm fine riding with JC at this point if we don't get a little value in a trade. If we can move him into NOP trade exception I'd do it... He has shot better in January and could have a couple good months that push his value higher in the offseason.

I also think just about any move we make is just putting lipstick on the pig at this point. I barely thought we were fringe contenders to start the season and have written off those hopes. If we make it past round 1 we can throw a parade. Unless the Suns and Warriors are injured we ain't getting past them. Nuggs might be healthier in the postseason and would be a tough out... Memphis might beat our *** too.... they locked in.

So if you find something for him great, but I'm not gonna force the issue.

I love the guy and always will but losing Ingles is more of a personnel and locker room hit than on the court hit. He was out of shape and looked washed.
Yeah but he could roll out of bed and still be the best passer on the team and somehow be fine defensively (by the numbers, not by the eye-test). I think the trade rumors ****ed up his shooting more than anything else.

He was overweight... never looked like he had his legs... when you carry extra weight it really effs everything up. No legs will wreck your jumpshot.

No, but that's the good thing about him. He doesn't need to be "well utilized" to be effective. I agree we'd have to move Bogey if we want to bring in Barnes

I don't get the Barnes thing...

Everyone: We must get better defensively

Jazz: Let's get the guy on the worst defensive team in the league (almost 28th) with the worst on/off defensive splits... but he looks really athletic.

Maybe he's dogging it but its a weird target imo. Unless there is a second move where Bogey goes out for a guy who is actually good defensively.

Doesn't need him to be the mega defensive stopper. What we want is "flexibility" which Barnes will provide. He can rebound, pass/put the ball on the floor without turning it over, and also shoot the three ball at over 40%.

He's also younger and barely miss games for reasons other than COVID.

Basically everything that Bogey can do, Barnes can do better(including game winners). Everything Bogey can't do, Barnes can do also. Yes Barnes advance stats aren't pretty, but Boegy also has one of the leagues ugliest advance splits amongst all starters in this league.
