Trade ideas

For those of us wanting you to do the homework, what are they saying about the guy in the picture to the story?
Not much. He’s long been a target but the article indicated it would take a lot to get him or something along those lines.

Indiana should absolutely be bold. If they can add a long term piece through trade they can also likely still have max space to make another add. If I was Indiana and OKC I would absolutely be banging our doors down for Lauri. I doubt they could find a better fit of player, personality, cap flexibility, etc. IF we are willing to sell there won't be a better opportunity for them to add an all-star.

I think it will be hard to get premium assets for Lauri, the team trading for him will likely be good for a long time. I don’t know if I’d consider Mathurin and Walker premium, but more premium than picks likely to be in the 20s.

Edit: I just realized you had just mentioned these two lol.

So, like, something more than Kelly Olynyk?
Yeah... uhhh... nah. Bogey still got a lot more value on the market than KO. If they did it I'm guessing NY would send Fournier and one of their trash first round picks.

OKC is ideal because they can trade other teams picks. I think with Indiana I'd need Walker and 4 firsts and maybe a swap. They would project to be good, but who knows... Halliburton is real nice but I wonder if his pullup shooting is sustainable. It also seems like he gets dinged up a bit. If healthy and if Lauri extended they would project as a playoff team every year but injuries do happen and who knows.

We could probably get something similar this offseason... maybe one less pick or so... but if we really decide its time for the process then Indiana would be top of the list of teams I'd talk with.

I also wonder how committed they are to Mathurin. If you got Walker and Mathurin plus like 3 picks maybe that makes sense.

Imagine if KO for Fournier and a trash first round pick was on the table for us.

I don't think Lauri is as good as Mitchell or Gobert, but he fits so perfectly for so many teams. I'd like to get a bidding war going between IND, OKC, SAC, and maybe others like MIA, BKN, or NYK.

Fit, contract size, and personality (he's not a guy that wants to force himself to market X)... I think he should yield as much in a trade as Rudy and Donovan. There also isn't an obvious next star available that teams would be super excited about. OKC is weirdly passive so they may not pony up the bounty we want. I can see Indy or Sac making a YOLO move. MIA and NY don't necessarily have the goods I'd be after. Brooklyn has some interesting picks.

The thunder may be less motivated if it looked like we were sending Lauri to the east but I could see them going all in to block a team in the west from snagging him.

Biggest thing... Knicks realize they may have "too many players". Not that interested in Grimes but Quickley continues to be exciting to me. Not sure its a wonderful fit with Key... not sure we should care. JC and pick for IQ and Fournier. Call it in.

Do it. Quickley is basically Maxey without the PT & usage. Extremely similar profile. He's already one of the best sixth men in the league with potential to be so much more. JC averages 27 per 100 possession this season. IQ averages 31/100 on much higher efficiency. And it's not like he's a complete ball hog either. His A/T ratio is nearly 3. The kid plays an extremely effiencient offense.

Presti is passive until he's not. Made the Harden and PG deals (x2) happen. You cannot handcraft a better player for OKC right now unless you're talking about the all time great level players. If Lauri is available I think he will pony up.

Right and it is the right messaging to send out to the league and your team that they will let the cake bake rather than forcing something. Who knows what their real stance is.
