Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

RJ Barret averaged 25-6-4 post-all star break. Granted the shooting numbers werent great, but he averaged 8 FTA per game.

He's a 6'6 guard who can be a primary ball-handler.

He had a 46 point game vs Miami where he got 22 FTA's.

Him being the 3rd overall pick works against him more than it works for him because people are disappointed with where he is at relative to his draft position.

The best players on his team around him were Julius Randle (everyone hates him), Evan Fournier (he's a bench player on most playoff teams), and Alec Burks (lmao).

Only 22 years old, just turned 22 in June.

He;s also been playing for Coach Thibs, who isnt exactly an offensive genius.

I’d love to have him in the deal, but regardless the Knicks can give us a mother load

Guys we could flip for draft assets:

- Mike
- Bogey
- Vando
- JC
- Bev
- Beasley

May have to take back some bad salary to do it on some of them... but we will have infinity cap space. Move 1 or 2 prior to the year starting... then move the others as opportunities arise. What we would have already received for Don and Rudy is huge... what we have left to sell off is still pretty staggering.
I don't want to trade Vando. He is young and a very good defender. After watching him guard Curry. He is exactly what teams need. Not everyone can be offense- oriented. Plus, I doubt you can get a first for him. I like to keep Beasley to see what we have. I think he could be traded at the trade deadline next year. All the other guys can go because they are not in our timeline and perhaps can bring back more first round picks.

I'm not selling him for nothing... but if you get a good first for him then you move him. Trade current value for future value. He might even get more if combined with another dude like Mike or Bogey... He doesn't have to go by any means... but if he has high value then we cashing out.

iow, he shot a lot.

6 and 4 is fine - nothing to write home about, but it's not terrible. and again regarding his situation with the knicks and those excuses - he was no different at duke. he had one of the most dominant players in college basketball history in the frontcourt with him and he still couldn't help but chuck inefficiently. it's just who he is. he's an inefficient chucker who rebounds a little bit.

and again, regarding the fact he's 22. if he were improving each season, that would hold more water. you should get better from 21 to 22. All that said, he is still young and might someday figure it out. but let somebody else take that risk - the asking price right now is too high. the risk/reward with Barrett just doesn't work. if he were a guy that his team were giving up on and you could get him for cheap, hell yeah, you make that deal. but the asking price is pretty much that of a 22 yo all-star.

I would love to have RJ but even the Knicks are not dumb enough to trade him with all those picks. Either you get less picks or RJ. I prefer getting more unprotected picks because as good as RJ is he cannot carry a team. If the Jazz are blowing it up then getting a replacement for DM keeps us where we are now. I want out picks to be in top 4 range the next few years. With Barnett and Toppin and Quickley plus Beasley and JC, Bogie and Conley the Jazz might be too good to be awful. I know they can get rid of some of those guys too. I am in full tank mode, so I want the worse team as possible next year.

You cannot trade everyone. We need guys on the team this year. You can always trade him later if he doesn't fit team/find a role.

What's the risk? You have a 6'6 player who is a good athlete who can draw fouls at a high rate while having no huge weaknesses...

And he averaged 23 on 19 shots in college. Not great efficiency by any means, but it's hardly bad.
