you know what the word "PER" means, right?
RJ Barrett averages 8.4 FTs per 100 possession for the Knicks last season, and he makes 6 of those every 100 possession. That makes it 0.06 pts scored off FTs per offensive possession. Not 1.4 per possession. Not even close.

The discussion is not about how he would shoot FTs every possession, just that possessions that end with him shooting FTs are great possessions.

A possession that ends with ANYONE shooting FTs is a great possession. Even for Shaq or Ben Simmons.
That's hardly an argument.
You know what else would be good to have?
More possessions.
It takes Poole about 2 "good possessions" to score 4 pts from FT line whereas it would take RJ "3 good possessions" to do the same.
I'm not arguing against having more good possessions. I'm arguing against RJ shooting more FTs. Him shooting more FTs mean more possessions it would have to exhaust and less possessions for others.
Just like every possession Westbrick hits a jumper would be a good possession. But why doesn't the coach want him to shoot? Because it would take him more possessions to finally hit a jumper than other players with better %.
Although it's kind of entertaining to see his evolving (and tortured) logic, maybe it's time to put this argument to bed? You've clearly won.
