Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

You said this:

If you didn't mean he's hurting his team when shooting FT's, then you worded this extremely poorly.
So... the more a poor shooter shoots, the more he hurts his team.

Wow, can you believe this? I can't believe I just said that. What a bold statement

This is not true for freethrows. The way your sentence was worded implied it is.

Not sure why this is so difficult for you to follow.

yeah, it's very difficult apparently.

care enough to explain how letting a 70% FT shooter shoot more FTs is somehow good for your offense?

You want me to explain why 1.4 points per possession is good for your offense?

lol

So this seems to be the all-purpose thread - both Lakers and Heat are expressing interest in Patrick Beverly.

It's weird to say as we've barely had him and the emotional investment is not there, but I'm going to be so pissed if we trade him and keep Conley:mad:

Trade Bev to Miami for Jovic. Eh? A vet for a rook? Maybe I’m dreaming.

yes, care enough to explain why would RJ get to shoot FTs EVERY possession?

you know what the word "PER" means, right?

RJ Barrett averages 8.4 FTs per 100 possession for the Knicks last season, and he makes 6 of those every 100 possession. That makes it 0.06 pts scored off FTs per offensive possession. Not 1.4 per possession. Not even close.

Even Shaq O'neal would get to score 1.1 pts on every possession if he simply got to go to the line every possession.

But he didn't.

Why else do you think teams did not just go execute hack-a-shaq every game from start to finish.

You asked me how letting a 70% FT shooter shoot more FTs is good for your offense and I answered.

The discussion is not about how he would shoot FTs every possession, just that possessions that end with him shooting FTs are great possessions.

What if we take the Heat’s Godfather offer for Don and discount it slightly and give them Beverley?

A possession that ends with ANYONE shooting FTs is a great possession. Even for Shaq or Ben Simmons.

That's hardly an argument.

You know what else would be good to have?

More possessions.

It takes Poole about 2 "good possessions" to score 4 pts from FT line whereas it would take RJ "3 good possessions" to do the same.

I'm not arguing against having more good possessions. I'm arguing against RJ shooting more FTs. Him shooting more FTs mean more possessions it would have to exhaust and less possessions for others.

Just like every possession Westbrick hits a jumper would be a good possession. But why doesn't the coach want him to shoot? Because it would take him more possessions to finally hit a jumper than other players with better %.
