Another way to view this is tanking and fans rooting for the tank is a result of league rules related to the draft. Fans are competitive and the NBA has made tanking a competitive part of the sport. Tanking gives fans of losing teams something to root for. Fans ultimately are rooting for their team to succeed, and tanking has unfortunately become the losing teams playoff push.

Fans are not paying their meal ticket, btw. I love how fans feel so entitled because they're under the impression the hold some major stock in the players salaries. This team exists because of the NBA, the owners, the players, then the fans. You pay for entertainment, not to make team business decisions. But, if you disagree and think you do play a significant roles in player salaries, then they have every right to criticize you. It's called taking responsibility.

OK. But you choose to root for your team to lose, which contradicts the basis of fandom and choosing a team in sports and competition, for your own personal gain to some degree. Sure, you want your team to win eventually and hopefully win a championship, and for the most part for personal and selfish reasons.

I'd say frankly that Trey is being selfish, not the fan. Not that he shouldn't be, but pretty much by definition doing something that only benefits himself and Corbin vs. every single Jazz fan is selfish.
