What's new

Trey Lyles

I have heard that but never officially. I have heard DL talk in some detail about the Jazz targeting Donovan after the Chicago camp and his visit to SLC. So the Jazz were very clear they were doing whatever they could to move up and that he was their guy. Hard for me to believe that the Jazz weren't working the phones aggressively to find a suitor.
Locke has said that the jazz told Denver they wanted to trade, then Denver called back right before the pick and asked for Lyles. I'm sure the jazz were very active, but the way it sounds from Locke and Dennis is that it was a surprise to them that Denver called.

Denver is the most amazing trade partner ever. Gobert and Mitchell are way better than those dudes they picked and Lyles.

If I am Denver next year I call DL and offer a trade. Then I find out who he wants to draft and then let the deal fall through and draft that guy lol

And then DL never takes a phone call from you again. There are only 30 of these guys, and ruining a relationship will most likely come back to bite you later. DL may mention as much to other front offices and that turns into more teams not taking your call.

If I was Denver, I wouldn't do that, and it has nothing to do with hurting Utah.

Lyles was never trash. He had a good rookie year then got minutes crunched last year after a slow start. You got to give up something good to get something good. Trades are suppose to be win/win.
You ****ing high? Lyles was hot garbage last year and lost his spot - deservedly - to two 40-year olds, one of which was fat, lovable, and produced almost nothing.

**** Trey Lyles. DL salvaged and redeemed himself beyond comprehension by getting DM, but had that not happened, Lyles would be one of the worst decisions he's ever made.

He wasn't that* bad. Plenty of dudes struggle in the first half of their sophomore year before turning it around.

There's sucking by being invisible, and then there's sucking by being a horrible chucker that doesn't hit shots, doesn't pass, doesn't rebound, doesn't D up, doesn't care, and doesn't learn a ****ing thing.

I hated Lyles coming out because he seemed like a soft, aloof player, but the Jazz were filling a need and thought they could harness his talent.

Surprise! They couldn't. You can't do much with 6' 10" children, it turns out.

And yeah, I'm probably a little saltier than I should be, especially since everything actually came out net positive (I'd rather have DM over Bobby Portis [who I still love and would've picked there] and even Devin Booker), but that tweet he sent out after Hayward dicked us crystallized everything I ever thought about the kid.

lyles had a good offensive game but dont let that fool you. he was hot trash on defense, kept nugs in it but also had a serious **** show showing down the stretch.
