I agree with him being a 4/5, but undersized? He measured 6-11" (yes, in shoes) and weighs around 260lbs. He'll often be shorter than the other teams center, but to say he's undersized is a stretch.
I think this sort of thinking, which happens to be all too prevalent on jazzfanz, is terribly flawed (even ignoring how unimportant head height is to defense). No, Kanter isn't especially long, but what he lacks in length, he seems to make up for in strength. That is, when a player like Howard or Bynum gets within a few feet of the basket, you're probably ****ed either way, and an extra 0.5 blocks per game aren't going to make a hell of a lot of difference (especially since there's a damn good chance the offensive team retains possession). On the other hand, if you're able to keep those same players 10 to 15 feet away from the basket with superior transition and positional play, those players' strengths are largely negated. Length and athleticism seem to come more into play defending fleet-of-foot power forwards on pick and rolls and perimeter players driving to the basket. Kanter will suffer far more in those situations than when he's called on to guard large post threats.OK I was trying to be polite by saying that he's "undersized" (dumb I know). What I was meant to say is that he's gonna be a bit short going up against the Howards, Bynums, Boguts of the NBA world.
He'll dominate at the PF position - I have absolutely no doubt about that watching the Turkey-Germany game. He's STRONG and yet FAST. POWERFUL and yet SKILLFUL.
Somebody said that to determine your position in the NBA - look at which position you can guard. I just don't know if Kanter can guard NBA Centers and really do well in it. I think he can guard most PFs no problem whatsoever.
To me.. sadly he's just about half an inch too short to play the Center position in the NBA.

I think after todays game you can switch JV with Kanter
Kanter, 9.6pts, 3.9reb, 0.5ast, 0.3stl, 0.6blk, 1.1to .590FG, .679FT 17.8min
JV 10.4pts, 3.6reb, 1ast, 0.8stl, 1.1blk, 2.7 to .707fg, .710FT 17.3min.
only thing Kanter does better in this tourney is rebounding and less TO.

I didn't realize they were that high. That's 6.8/48 minutes and 1.5 TO's higher /48 than the nearest competitor in the NBA, Russell Westbrook, who turned the ball over at a rate of 5.3/48. Don't know how NBA coaches are going to like that and it may impact his playing time in the NBA because all things being equal, his TO's will not improve in the NBA. Still young though. So those of you who have seen JV play in full games, how does he lose the ball for TO's? Is it stuff like traveling, crappy passes, losing it in the post, or a combo. of some/all of these?
I didnt see many games of lithuania, but for the part that i have seen, he was too young, too eager to prove something, and too much energy which is sometimes in controllable. He was better than most of Lithuanian big men because the rest just sucks. But his best chance was the good lithuanian guards which turkey didnt have. He got lots of easy points thanks to their good playmaking. If you watch the highlights of both JV and kanter you will see, Kanter had much tougher points, mostly banging with his opponents while JV used his agility and long arms going to the basket
I think he is a good player but i have too many questions on him like how well he can translate his game to nba? He cant find those easy buckets against nba teams. And he is still too thin to bang up with bigger players.
