What's new

Welcome to Election Day 2024,

Dems are ****ing terrible at this.

Awful trends nationwide. No positive data to point at. Time for big change
I have always blamed the political ladder, which turns visionaries into muppets or weeds them out as they climb. Peer pressure and interest groups drive promising politicans to become "company line guys", and if you refuse to drive the company line you wont get party support and funding to your campaigns.

Trump would have never gotten through the republican ladder the conventional way, but he didnt have to because he had the money and fame to create a following on his own. Maybe democrats will get their own "celebrity candidate" at some point who is more than just a product of the system.

Wow! What a shocker! Who really could have seen this coming?!

Yeah I haven't underestimated the hate-filled half of our country since 2016. I travel the world a ton and the difference between the caliber of people in other countries and ours is striking. The USA is full of uneducated, bitter idiots who struggle with rational thought. They think American exceptionalism applies to them even though nothing about them is close to exceptional.

At the end of the day, what Trump represents is no threat to the current hierarchy our society is built around. The people at the top don't care if he wins, or actively support him. Why wouldn't they? Fascism is still capitalism.

If somebody were to come through that was a legitimate threat to the way things are, you're going to feel it.

Well now we'll see what he actually is. I agree the time for division is now past. Somehow the country needs to come together. My concern is Trump will act on his exclusionary "othering" language. The next 8 months will be very telling for this presidency, and who supports it if he starts to act on things like project 25. Right now we are in a "we'll see" holding pattern.
Do you think people who joined his team, like Elon, Nicole, RFK and Tulsi, none are traditional republicans, can help him focus on policies, keep the tone positive, and helping Americans?

I’m probably wrong here, but I think he understands that without these people, he would have lost; he might actually try to be a better leader because of his new team.

This is my hope at least.

Just one problem with that. All of those people suck ***.

We can hope that's the case. I'm concerned that the billionaires rallied so hard to get him elected with promises of cabinet positions and such, when we already have the most lop-sided distribution of wealth and highest national debt ever in our country. To me that doesn't bode well for how we handle finances over the next 4 years.
