I have always blamed the political ladder, which turns visionaries into muppets or weeds them out as they climb. Peer pressure and interest groups drive promising politicans to become "company line guys", and if you refuse to drive the company line you wont get party support and funding to your campaigns.Dems are ****ing terrible at this.

Trump would have never gotten through the republican ladder the conventional way, but he didnt have to because he had the money and fame to create a following on his own. Maybe democrats will get their own "celebrity candidate" at some point who is more than just a product of the system.
