What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Into the Woods

Worst movie I've seen this year, second only to Birdman. First 2/3 was OK, then it got really weird in the last 1/3. Acting, music, costume, etc, was really good. But the plot/screenplay really let it down. A lot of "What the??!!" moments.

Don't say you haven't been warned.

I have mixed reactions about Maron and his podcast. I don't really like the guy at all, and I don't find him funny (although the podcast isn't really supposed to be funny) but he is great at interviewing and he's incredibly knowledgeable about so many things. The podcast is great when you're listening to someone you admire or enjoy their work because he digs so deeply into their life but if it's someone I don't know much about I find it pretty boring.

I love listening to how people get to where they are in life and almost every episode he does a great job at doing that.

Yeah hes certainly not a stand up guy I would ever listen to. Too dry for me. But I love his show on IFC and I love his podcast.

The first 2/3 of Into the Woods was pretty damned entertaining imo. Took my daughter and I was pleasantly surprised. Then it kept going and I coudlnt wait for it to end.

Just finished "Enemy"

One of those you came away thinking "WTF did I just SAW????"

After reading a few "theories" online, however, it all seems to make sense... and the theme is very well suited for 30 something guys... I do recommend it only if you like deciphering plots, and themes, etc. If you like Mulholland Drive, for example, I would definitely give this one a try...

I am quite glad that I made a note of this movie when you posted this.

I saw Enemy about a month ago.

I have a friend at work who is quite the film intellect. He's also much more well read than I am, so his insight is always appreciated. But he does have a rather discerning taste and he is NOT a fan of Mr. Gyllenhaal.

Enemy is an absolutely fantastic film and when I saw it over a weekend, it kept me thinking about it. It's kind of a jarring film in the idea that you are trying to make sense of it all once you finish it. I wanted to get back to work to tell my buddy that he NEEDED to watch this movie. He did and he was affected as much as I was. We talked about it for hours one night. He also watched the DVD extras, which I didn't, and that gave a more complete picture of the story.

To say that Gyllenhaal was great in it is a ****ing understatement. His acting chops were as sharp as I had ever seen them and this is coming from someone who was rather indifferent to Jake.

RT @ 74% underrates this movie completely.

Swear to god this is one of the top 3 LEAST favorite movies of all time. And I would probably blow Gyllenhall if he asked me to. I hated every single second of it.

Have you seen prisoners?
I loved that one

I have not but it is on my list. It's the same director and Enemy was made right after Prisoners...for both the director and Jake. I think the director liked what he saw and from what I understand had a good but contentious relationship on set with Jake. He was definitely able to get the best out of JG.

I guess I'm going to have to see enemy now. Sounds fantastic

Exactly. I wonder what happened? Really really strange plot to end the movie with. Couldn't wait for it to end too.
