Well they said the same thing before the Lebron draft and he ended up in Cleveland. The NBA machine won't let a $ making machine like Webmy fall to a small market Jazz team.

Yes, where he wanted to be. Catering to stars is a good way to make money. And it also set up "The Decision", where we all saw the NBA fully sell out to the big market super-teams.Well they said the same thing before the Lebron draft and he ended up in Cleveland.
Any other asset move for Beverley would have had the same effect. The move gets partial credit for achieving some objectives but is still not a passing score. If you spend a week in a casino depleting your 401k, I don't think your wife will care how much you won on Wednesday. It's weird to me the people who cry about the THT deal the most are the same people who are all in on losing as much as possible
Its very easy to get bad players... you don't have to burn cap space to do it. I've also said get a couple seconds in the deal and I would understand. You could also give that time to other players that are bad but are better prospects with higher upside. It's weird to me the people who cry about the THT deal the most are the same people who are all in on losing as much as possible
THT is both out of shape and underwhelming on the court. He is fine for the tank, but I agree we traded for less than we had (Beverly) without any additional compensation. Its very easy to get bad players... you don't have to burn cap space to do it. I know I know.... its very clear my opinion of THT is different than some in the front office. I think it will be abundantly clear soon that my opinion is closer to correct.
Ehh, yeah you can get terrible players anywhere, but THT has an unique intersection of talent and being bad that makes him a believable play your fans can be excited for while losingIts very easy to get bad players... you don't have to burn cap space to do it. You simply give those minutes to JB and you have an additional $10M in space to mess with next year.Ehh, yeah you can get terrible players anywhere, but THT has an unique intersection of talent and being bad that makes him a believable play your fans can be excited for while losing
I think the last place he wanted to be drafted was to Cleveland in 2003 although he made good and went back home to win them a championship after the Miami years.Yes, where he wanted to be. Catering to stars is a good way to make money. And it also set up "The Decision", where we all saw the NBA fully sell out to the big market super-teams.
Like I said the player has to have talent. You simply give those minutes to JB and you have an additional $10M in space to mess with next year.
JB has more talent than THT. There is no requirement that they have talent... ya just made that up. It simply has to be a prospect they want to find out about.Like I said the player has to have talent.
That's laughable.JB has more talent than THT. There is no requirement that they have talent... ya just made that up. It simply has to be a prospect they want to find out about.
Go on ahead and look at their per36 numbers from last season (both players age 21 season). Just cuz a guy is different doesn't mean his ceiling is higher. If JB simply shoots it close to what he did in college he's a backup pg. THT is one of those guys that people talk about his potential and then say if he just fixes his shot, learns to finish, can move his feet a bit on defense then he will be a pretty good player... so if he becomes a player different than the one he is... cool. Also he's a guy that they are like "look he needs to play with the ball in his hands with shooters around him and then he can show his real potential". It ignores the fact that there are likely 5-6 guys on every roster you'd rather handle the ball. That's laughable.
JB certainly had more talent in the college game, but when it comes to the NBA game THT has a far higher ceiling.
Yeah, they both have to learn to do all those things. JB cant do any of that stuff at the NBA level. He cant even do it at SL level.Go on ahead and look at their per36 numbers from last season (both players age 21 season). Just cuz a guy is different doesn't mean his ceiling is higher. But it really doesn't matter how talented a guy is... you just have to be able to justify that we want to see what this prospect can do. There is no weird fan tolerance/approval for who they will accept with development minutes... and Ainge doesn't care even if there was.
THT may very well be “LA Exum.”Go on ahead and look at their per36 numbers from last season (both players age 21 season). Just cuz a guy is different doesn't mean his ceiling is higher. This isn't true... look at some of the guys OKC and Houston has marched out the last couple years. JB is on par or well above many of those guys. I mean if the Jazz went out and started some 24 hr. fitness guys that'd be quite the thing... its not remotely close to what I'm suggesting. And I disagree that talent doesnt matter. If talent didnt matter then teams would do exactly what Philly did back in the day, but they dont. They try to get players with some level of talent. If it didnt exist, why not go to the local 24 HR fitness and sign the 15 best players there? There is clearly some kind of level that NBA teams want to uphold for the respect of their peers (and maybe fans?).
The Exum experience at least had the injury disruption to lean in and say there was still potential there. THT just got overhyped by the Laker's media and the nation media that hangs around.THT may very well be “LA Exum.”
He's actually LA Butler, overhyped 2nd rounders who are meh.THT may very well be “LA Exum.”
