Have you been reading the thread about the promotion? i may have been the lone voice for some time, but not anymore.Ffs just give it a rest
Yes. Their offense rarely if ever stagnates because when their offensive sets don't work Steph and KD can both create for themselves and carry them. Klay can even do that on occasion. That is what the Jazz need. We need another player or two who can carry us when the offense stagnates. Mitchell can't be tasked with the whole load.
Btw, it's not a one or the other type of scenario. The Jazz can still run great sets and have great ball movement after adding more shot creation. I'm not saying get a guy who will Iso on every play. I'm saying we need a guy other than Donovan who has that ability when nothing else we are trying is working.

You're giving me way too much credit, mate, for calling him out. This is only my 3,157th post. When it’s your 8,538th post whining about DL it’s kinda stale and repetitive mate

Being right does not always equate to being popular.Lol I admire your persistence

Never said 100%, and I've always given credit to DL for getting Donovan. But at what point does a team need to make a change? Kind of the same call with players and coaches. At what point do you make a change at a position? At what point do you make a coaching change or a change in the FO? You balance making knee-jerk reactions, which Larry almost made with Sloan a couple of times, against a body of work. What made us think Lindsey was such a great hire? It was due to his association with San Antonio. But just because I worked for Apple, doesn't make me the next Steve Jobs. Dennis is probably a great person. But he's not Buford/Poppovich.Unless you’re not actually 100% right
I'd be terrified of AD leaving the Jazz the following offseason and leaving the Jazz with no future assets in the immediate future but I like the aggressiveness in the GMing here.Ok, if I’m GM this summer I go for championship or bust:
1. Trade Favors and Exum (for salary) and add Bradley and Grayson, if they want, plus three first round picks, Tomic, and a second rounder or two, plus a pick swap, for Anthony Davis.
2. Use the MLE on Patrick Beverley.
3. Use the BAE on Caruso.
4. Sign Vince Carter for the veteran’s minimum for him to have a shot at a title, plus getting a bit of burn, in his history-making year.
5. Fill in anyone who wants to come on a minimum deal who can shot and/or score.
Beverley / Caruso / Neto
Mitchell / O’Neale
Ingles / Korver / Carter
AD / Crowder / Niang
Gobert / Udoh
I think you have to roll the dice on a PG scenario. What will LA’s cap be like next year? Will another year of dysfunction be that alluring, with LeBron on the wrong side of 35? Maybe NY has cap. Who knows. I’d do it. Get a championship and you can sail on more than a decade of treadmilling by that one feat alone. We compete for the first seed with AD. You’d have to be a huge douche to leave that and not at least sign a couple year deal to see how it goes. AD is kind of a douche, though.I'd be terrified of AD leaving the Jazz the following offseason and leaving the Jazz with no future assets in the immediate future but I like the aggressiveness in the GMing here.

Of course, the next response I'd expect from a lot of Jazzfanz'ers would be...but replace him with who? And that's the kind of thinking that makes Dennis roll out the same roster YoY, or why Gail almost re-upped Corbin. It's very low risk to stick with the status quo. In fact, and I can't remember who posted this in the Lindsey/Zanik thread, the low risk approach is probably EXACTLY what Gail and the BOD want Dennis to do. It's job preservation, it's guaranteed revenue streams, it's having merchandise and sponsorship monies rolling in at record rates as the Jazz continue to make the playoffs and market the hell out of Donovan for at least 5 more years. By then, Dennis has ridden off into the sunset and doesn't give a rat's *** if Mitchell has gotten sick of Utah not surrounding himself with better talent. Let ZAnik deal with any backlash if that happens and Mitchell leaves for a better situation.
It's not so much AD being kind of a douche more than Rich Paul manipulating AD to somewhere which benefits him and Klutch Sports the most. If AD showed anything this year it's that he's very impressionable and I worry he has the wrong people around him now from a small market perspective, but like you said if the Jazz are contending with him and he leaves that'll be a dick move.I think you have to roll the dice on a PG scenario. Yep. I don’t disagree with any of that. But I view Quin, Rudy, and Donovan as the real heart and leadership of the team. I’ve always said that people downplay the psychological aspects of the game. However, you need a minimum level of talent on your roster because the talent can carries you through times where other things aren’t clicking (which is where we particularly sucked this year). AD gives you an explosion of talent, gives you a scoring option, or at least someone that the other team has to scheme for, and he can play both ends of the floor. If he’s available for the package, I’d do it.AD is a giant *********** douche who quit on his team with 2 years remaining on his contract and isn't even that good that he can drag his team into playoffs with any regularity. He quits when the going gets tough so no thnx
