What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Is our business model to get blown out of the playoffs every year? Is our business model to lose our talented drafted players to free agency in exchange for nothing? Is our business model to remain a team that has ZERO championships? Oh yea, we better not disrupt that! Thank's for your 2 cents!
The business model they follow good, bad or indifferent is to not pay the luxury tax and to have two rounds of playoff games. The 2nd round is where their profit is. Part of that is why you didn't see them bringing in players that had been bought out. Affects the labor costs to get to black ink. I'm not saying this is a good way to fun a railroad.

What is the timeline on when Memphis will be moving Conley?

Doesn't it change everything for us to sign free agents before trading for him, and totally limits us if we trade for him before July 1st?

Is that how it works? NBA salary stuff is so confusing.

Yeah basically. I think you could theoretically agree on a trade with them, but not finalize it until after you’ve signed a free agent. The salary would have to match up though in that case

So trading for Conley then signing Harris is basically impossible, but signing Harris then trading for Conley works in theory, right?

I really hope there is a concrete plan being established, and that the plan develops successfully.

Conley is not the answer if he comes alone. But I would take Conley and Harris over Rubio and Favors. If we can’t get a great PG (Kemba), then I think it’s time to seriously consider making DM our starting PG. I think he’s more than qualified. Then we overpay and go get Harris.

DM/Royce/Ingles/Harris/Gobert

I think the plan is that we had planned on this summer being the plan, but the closer we got to it, the more it appeared to be a desert mirage, and the more we fall in love with our guys all over again. If July 7th comes and goes and Favors becomes guaranteed, and if we've yet to lock anyone up, I anticipate the "now he can be used as a $17M expiring trade chip" discussion to heat up and ultimately fan out after the deadline.

I's hard to see Kemba turning down the supermax and losing all that money. If the Hornets are willing to pay him that much then I think he stays in Charlotte for sure.
