Stupid attention whoring assholes.
They're most likely not spending enough to make a difference, or will be calling asking for another card within a week.

There is a maximum they can offer. At that point, they are allowed to force a customer off the seat. Read the fine print when you buy things. This isn't difficult.
selling a product you don't have is called a con
you should not do business with con-artists, overbooking is a CON!
so i hope united airlines stock price drops by 90%
Okay, ill concede that explaining why government subsidies exist for airlines is too complicated for this discussion.
Lets go off what you are saying: Businesses try and make money and if they can make more money and be more efficient they do.
So based on that your entire argument is that the Airline messed up because of their policy to be more efficient and profitable? Your only problem now is that they have a policy to overbook? Have you conceded the other arguments you were making?
If not lets here your argument for the rest.
Clearly the airline will apologize. This has been a PR nightmare for them and they (as we just established are a business trying to make money) will do whatever to get positive PR.
Do we know this wasn't Kinkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk?

I've never said that businesses only want to be efficient and profitable. I believe when it comes to business the customers and how we look after them is first and foremost the most important. I am in business, I know this very well.
Yes you try to make your business run efficiently so it is cost effective, but 'price' is not the only consideration when it comes to services, a level a care is also very important. Sometimes you do have to understand that people are people, and that's what counts at the end of the day.
Yes we know. That was a man they pulled off the plane not a 12 year old boy.
so because police/government do it! it is suddenly ok?
RIGHT!
Wow. Ok. Talk to the hand bro. We're done.

Lol it was a joke. I have no problem with you One Love you are a nice guy and a good contributor on this board. Although your line right here only helped my joke.

So what if someone ordered something from you. They came in to pick it up but you distributer had had not delivered it. You offered them a refund plus 1000$ and the item for free but they refused to leave your store until you gave them what you didn't have? Would you call the police? Are you responsible if after resisting to leave your business the police get physical with this person?
It is not really a problem that often and it is the only way for airlines to make money. The other solution is to have the government subsidize them more(which I am opposed to). It works out well for most people. When you have flexibility to get off a flight what they offer you is usually worth it. I did it all the time when I traveled for work and got lots of free flights and hotel stays.
What do you mean there is a maximum they can offer? Are they limited by law as to what the maximum offer can be?
Well they do because subsidies helped them exist. Otherwise we probably would not have airlines to the extent we have them today. Fortunately some people who could see the big picture better than you made it happen and the world is a better place because of it. You only make money because of the government so I guess you have no right to exist either.if airlines cant make money, then they have no right to exist!
I wasn't saying they would run flights at a loss. I was saying they would make billions of dollars. Those numbers are very deceiving. There is a reason for the subsidies.
Even if they are true why would an airline run flights at a loss? They wouldn't they would stop flying to those locations that lose them money and focus on the ones that make money. This is how free market business works. Businesses do not lose money on things without any benefit to them.
If you get a job at Uber for example would you drive multiple people somewhere every day to a location and receive less money than it costs you in gas to get them there?
