For Ainge to play hardball? Of course we all expected that. I guess we will see what kind of trade Value those players have. I think DL will call his bluff though. They need to trade Crowder. Bradley is too good to let go and Crowder wants out.

If not, oh well.

They would prefer to move Bradley because he is due a big pay day next year. If they can move smart or Bradley, they can take their time to move Crowder for the best deal possible. They may even be thinking they can work things out with keeping Crowder.

Just get the sign and trade done for the trade exception. Please. We desperately need that asset. I don't care what player(s) come back as part of it.

They're not keeping Crowder. Hayward just took his job, and Brown, Tatum, and Ojeleye are also waiting in the wings.

We had a couple of things going for us. Not sure I ever took DA's son's election seriously as a factor, but the other thing is GM's sometimes extend a personal courtesy in a situation like this. Because we are losing Hayward for nothing and Boston will have to move Crowder at some point, sometimes a GM will extend a professional courtesy for a reasonable offer, even though he could probably do a little better elsewhere. Basically, a situation of I'll do you a little favor now, and I'll expect the same treatment at some point in the future.

However, I was always skeptical of Danny Ainge cutting us a break. He has DL over a barrel and apparently DL refused the Trump treatment. I'm guessing Danny wanted an unprotected or lightly protected pick and DL stuck his ground for lottery protected, which is understandable.

Anyway, Danny Ainge has just become my most hated GM and I will be wishing pure evil upon him, as well as his team. He will try and squeeze every little drop of value from Crowder, rather than cut us a break when we just lost a major asset. I'm guessing it's because he's so unbending that Chicago and Indiana refused to deal with him. This **** will come back to haunt him, as GM's talk to each other and will give him the same treatment when the day comes the shoe is on the other foot.

Yeah I remember we got the Trade Exception via S&T when we let Boozer walk and he signed with Chicago. They didn't have to do it, there was nothing in it for them, but they helped us out just as a favor. And I think we used that to get Al Jeff basically for free.

But I'm not holding my breath about what Ainge is gonna do for us though.

Let's calm down just a bit. Ainge and Stevens flew back to Boston today. That's an all day flight. Pretty tough to get alot done today because of travel.

Yeah, they probably don't pay the extra money to have any cell service or wifi on their flight... Probably stuck playing games on their phones.

I'm loving all the new and rare posters that are popping up.

Mitchell unites us all.

Thing is, if the situation was flipped, we'd all be stoked to see DL be doing what Ainge is.

Idk why y'all thought we would get Crowder for essentially nothing. We have almost no leverage here.

We're pretty much all okay giving up a 1st round pick.

Ainge wasn't trading for legit guys (Butler, George et al), cuz he couldn't play in the sandbox with other gms, so why do we think he is going to be doing us favors. We aren't getting a sympathy trade. Ainge is not about helping others and relationships, he's playing by the ebeneezer scrooge playbook.

Maybe when nobody wants to play ball, he will come back begging, but that's the only reason a deal gets done. I could see DL having other gms throw him a bone to help out in steering Ainge toward a S&T, he seems to have some good relationships, but I'm certainly not expecting that.

We're back to the era of cap space is king. Who woulda thunk.

They also aren't dumping him for free just to be rid of him. You don't give away one of the most valuable contracts in the league.

Just wish I knew what Ainge was asking of Utah. Does he simply want a protection free pick or is he trying to get a player like Exum/Hood/Mitchell.

What is the point of contention? I would guess it's a protection free pick, but knowing Ainge he might be asking for way too much and trying to get a protected pick and a player.

Most of us thought it would cost us a protected 1st, which is a fair price.
