The Reason Why NFL Ratings Are Declining

eSports are just what they sound like, electronic sports. This is already a huge thing in places like Japan, China and S. Korea. There are high end computer games that are built for teams of up to 4 or 6 compete in video games. Real Time Strategy (like StarCraft 2), first person team shooters (Like Call of Duty or Overwatch) and sports games (Fifa) are three popular genres.

They have leagues, prizes, trophies, official competitions and world rankings. North American and European teams are starting to appear along with Asian based teams in the elite rankings. It's growing and fast.

Is that what Hayward does?

Like everything, it goes in cycles. Football saw its high over the past decade. Basketball might see a surge now. Basketball likewise saw a golden Age in the 80s and 90s then dropped off to football in this century. Basketball will probably take over for the next decade until football recovers.

Those trying to make a big deal out of the kneeling are just trying to score political pts. No one has honestly turned off football over that stuff. Hell, 90 percent of the time You don’t even see the kneeling anyway.

Hayward is not good enough to play professionally in league of legends but he does play that game. It's like me playing basketball, in not good enough to be professional but I enjoy playing it.

Yes, no one turned it off even though about ten different people were mentioned by posters in the last handful of pages of having stopped watching and I personally know of at least two who stopped.

If not for fantasy football I would probably never watch nfl. I do love fantasy football ball though

i tried fantasy sports. never found the appeal.

also fantasay nba did never really take off.

but for some reason fantasy footbal is HUGE. never got the appeal though

Did you actually read this thread or skip to the end? This has nothing to do with scoring political points for me. I stopped watching the moment Kaepernick started kneeling and the league along with the 49ers didn't punish him. He had every right to do it. The team and League had every right to punish him for doing it on their time and breaking League rules. They didn't. I decided to punish all involved by not watching or buying anything NFL related.

I had 2 Grandfathers that fought in WWII and Great Grandfather that fought and was gassed in WWI. Any protest involving the flag disgusts me even if it is perfectly legal. Others will undoubtedly feel differently. If you want to discuss social injustice with me then do it without disrespecting the flag. You're much more likely to get me on board and listening to you. Kneeling made me immediately turn my back on you.

Exactly what rule did he break? Just curious.

Pages A62-63 of the league rulebook:

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition.

It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

I'd like a link for that. The NFL just held a meeting with specific players, where the league told players they wouldn't have to stand. There's also the entire steelers team that didn't come out for the anthem in one game. Obviously they didn't get suspended and I haven't heard about the team being fined. Also thought it was common knowledge that unlike the NBA there wasn't a rule that said u had to stand, but that they (the players) were encouraged to stand.

You might have a point in that they are allowed to do as they wish and aren't required to stand. There's a policy versus rules debate in there according to an NFL spokesman. It still doesn't change my position in terms of my viewership going forward any different. If they want to kneel, so be it. I will still protest their actions with my own by not watching a single second or buying any merchandise. Others will feel differently and that's fine.

I have a hard time seeing how people think people kneeling are protesting the flag or disrespecting soldiers. That is not at all what they are doing. I understand some feel that is what they are doing.

None of the NFL players used to stand for the national anthem a few years ago. Why didn't anyone act upset then?

None stood a few years ago, why? This is the first I've heard of that.
