Nikola Mirotic

I really dont think there is a done deal. If the Bulls wanted to hold MIrotic out, I think they would think of something different than a stomach virus. No one misses multiple games w/ a stomach virus and they play on the 13th. If he doesnt play Saturday then I will get my excitement/nervousness level back up.

Have you met Rodney Hood?

I'm reading that the Bulls are insisting on a 1st rounder for Mirotic. Tony Jones replied with this on twitter "I said this before but I'd be stunned if the jazz surrendered a first. I don't see it happening".

didnt know if this had been shared. You can judge the source for yourself.

I’m feeling pretty certain there will be changes made regardless of Mirotic.

i don't know if I can take him seriously after he continues with this No trade clause BS. In theory there is NTC right in this second, in practice - not really, Chicago can make that NTC disappear at the drop of a hat. Chicago can trade him to whoever they want.

Watch this whole impending Mirotic deal end up being smoke and mirrors to put some urgency on a different deal including Favors DL is trying to push through. The scheme enthusiast in me would be pretty satisfied...

I think we should give them a heavily protected 1st round pick at this point for Niko. Why not try to trade a pick like OKC traded us -- Lottery Protected this year, but becomes a 2nd rounder this year and a 2nd rounder in the future if we don't make the playoffs. It seems like the pick is the thing they're after, so let's give them Joe Jesus and a pick like this.

I am starting to doubt the Mirotic deal happens but I think we could see 2-3 moves. I think it is very possible that Favors, Burks and Joe Johnson are all gone by the trade deadline.

I don’t necessarily think that would be a bad thing. Depends on what all comes back in terms of assets and players that they actually want.

I think Thabo could be a piece that helps us get the Cleveland 1st. They have no perimeter defenders of his caliber... He could help on KD. We could save them some cash by taking Frye.

Like if we offered Thabo and our second for Frye and their first would they say no? It's a 15-20 spot difference in draft position. We could then do Favs and the pick for Niko... substitute JJ if we can get something better than a crappy second for Favs without taking back money.

That’s where I am leaning. And I will be shocked if jazz send away any picks, cupboard is bare.

I’d be disappointed if we didn’t pony up some kind of first rounder for Mirotic because we used our mulligan on Rubio.

If we are going to try to make the playoffs this season, I don't think we should trade Joe. He provides so much for us offensively off the bench, and his contract is an easy decision when we reach summer.

I think our tradeable assets are Favors, Burks, Hood, our 2018 2nd and future 2nds.

If the Jazz have plans to re-tool and make it to the playoffs next year, they ABSOLUTELY must keep Thabo. They can move any of Udoh, Jerebko, Favors, Joe Jesus, Burks or Rubio. . . but they have to keep an eye towards actually being able to defend against the Warriors and Rockets themselves.

Unless it’s a ridiculous offer, they should keep Thabo.

We are projected to get the #11 pick. Given our draft success and cleverness of DL being able to trade up in the draft I think it would be silly to trade away that asset.

All things considered we hold on to Favors and package him and the 11 to get a better pick or a player we really want like Kevin Love, since we know LeBron will leave after this year and Cleveland will need to rebuild.

I think Rubio is in long term plans. Gorbert and DM love playing with him and Quinn seams to have a lot of confidence in him.

I don't think we can get a better PG and DM provides enough of a scoring punch in the back court. The Kid is going to be Hall of Fame and so will Gobert.

Wait, it would be silly to trade away the 11 pick but in the next sentence you propose trading it away for Love?

Lottery picks very rarely are moved before lottery day. It's more likely to happen during the draft. At that point Favors will be gone. Moreover, most teams in the lottery suck and are not looking to add talent on short term deals. On the contrary, most teams are looking to improve their draft position and accumulate assets. The exception occurs when a contender has a lottery pick (Celtics, Cavs this year) but they won't trade away an incredible asset for a guy like Favors. Best bet is to tank and improve our pick.

Man I'm keeping Thabo for sure and Joe cuz he doesn't want out

Yes, but why would THAT team do the deal if they know that Mirotic doesn't want to be there? Then they would know they only have him for a season and a bit, and his value in the trade goes way down. So I think the no-trade thing still has some meaning/value.

Also because the teams looking at him have salary concerns... so part of his value is as an expiring if he gets hurt or doesn't jive well.

I think Royce can cover for some of his stuff and is signed longer and is super cheap. The reason Thabo gets a first is because he is valuable against those teams... You must trade value to get value.

He also is 33 so he won't be on the team after his contract expires is my guess.
