What's new

So this is why Spence hasn't been on the radio...

I appreciated his takes and appreciated that it was clear he was an invested fan. Really liked the way he went after Bartelsdouche. Actually liked a lot of his commentary. But this thread isn’t a funeral.

Does Utah distinguish between DUI and DWI?
In some states if the BAC is under .08 or .05, you could still be found guilty of DWI. And you can be found guilty of driving while impaired for other reasons. Prescription or non-prescription drugs, for example, could be reasons for DWI.

It is still 0.08BAC ATM.

I'm okay with the 0.05BAC limit if they reduce the penalties for that vs 0.08BAC. 0.08 is already the edge of impairment.

My understanding is that the bill that passed did nothing more than reduce .08 down to .05. There is nothing in the law that reduces the penalty

DUI is really ******. Like it's a terrible thing to do to other human beings.

Spence is a good guy, but obviously could use some help. I hope he figures this out. Honestly as a society we need some better answers to intoxication and DUI. I've lived a few places where it's pretty widespread to drive while intoxicated, and it honestly scares the crap out of me.

I think people who do this type of thing are totally ****** people, scumbags, whatever you want to call them, but that doesn't mean it's a lifelong condition. We've all done things that make us ****** at one point or another, and helping each other out of it is the best way forward.

I'm confused Cy. What do you think the punishment should be for driving 120 MPH while drunk?

Do you not think it's a big deal?

As far as the legal system:
Your licence suspended
Alcohol classes
Months spent with interlock system
Fines (plus all the fees that come with hiring representation and towing)

Then you have the public humiliation and losing your job.

I think DUI laws are generally too lax. Getting a DUI near .08, while is inexcusible, should have a much lower penalty vs something like .16 or higher, being over .08 and driving 30+ over the speed limit, wrecklessly, or having multiple DD convictions--these should be felonies as each unnecessarily puts lives at risk.

34,000 people die per year in the U.S. from drunk driving. A greater number than gun deaths. In almost every instance, where the drunk driver lives, we allow them to drive again, yet we wisely prohibit felons from owning a gun.

Texting is even worse. I used to take public transit, and would watch out the window at all the people on their phones. 25% of crashes occur due to texting. Crazy...

Spence was top notch in regards to bringing us the Jazz news. Hell, even his Monson/Spence routines had gotten pretty good. It’s crazy that sometimes the deamons somebody sufferes from can appaear at any time. I’m bummed for the dude. Seems like he cares deeply for his own son and I think I recently saw that Spence got engaged not to long ago. I hope his engagement doesnt become collateral damage to his wreckless decisions. I enjoyed when you were on the radio man, and I hope you get chance to straighten your life out. For yourself and your family.

Damn this guy is an idiot.

and to get drunk in Utah off 3.2? He must be a lush.
Haha.. you know there’s more to drink than beer here, right? And 3.2 is just from the tap, and gas station beers. Liquor store beer and some bottled beers at restaurants and bars can have more.

Beyond that, you can still can drunk on 3.2s. Just makes you have to pee like crazy.
