What's new

I have seen the future...

You realize this post can be held against you?
I'm really not worried. I think Exum ceiling, talent-wise, is something like "Brian Shaw with better outside shooting and worse playmaking ability" and I don't think he is ever going to reach it because of his injuries. He might contribute here and there, have one or two decent seasons (let's say 11 point/5 ast/2 to/42% from the field), but that's pretty much it. Sorry, but, to me, he seems fragile, somewhat soft, not particularly smart and devoided of a good shooting touch from any range.

Until/unless proven otherwise.

I agree. He's good, he's a good teammate and he's on a good contract. He's pretty much perfect.

Everyone is buying in right now and there's not too much pressure on anyone. Quin is looking like a genius. We're witnessing the melding of a championship team.

Feel for Alec though. Money-man gonna need to shop at Mr. Mac.

Are you going full on Lavar Ball on us and trying to speak this **** into existence?

He’d be better at the rim with good coaching, and imo, losing weight. I can’t emphasize this enough. Dude does not need to be this big to be in the NBA. He’d be such a better and quicker and bouncier player if he shed about 12 pounds. He’d still be jacked as **** and one of the biggest badasses in the league.

I see a solid first step for a guy that big and an actual ability to get by guys. I just don’t see much lift or fluidity once he goes to take off. Losing weight could help that a lot. He does need to work on his actual finishing ability too though.
I think he'd lose that much weight playing a regular season, but most olaywre go into the year with a little bit more bulk, and condition as the season goes on.

Lol. I didn't realize Wes was talking about Crowder. Yeah Crowder is a bit thick and could lose a bit and maybe be better off .

This doesn't have to be the case at all though.

People thought Exum looked promising the last 2 games?
I’d say that there’s been moments where he looked great, and other moments where he looked like he’s missed the whole season up to this point. All in all, promising for a guy who looked ready to take a jump in summer league before a cheap *** play knocked him out for the season.

He was originally projected to miss the whole year. The fact that he’s healthy and can get game time experience to reintegrate to the rotation - at a time that the Jazz are thin at the position - is promising.

It also helps that they can better guage his contract value for this offseason.

Aspects looked promising. If you are just looking at box score stats then he didn't look great in the second game. Things that looked good were his overall athleticism and ability to get to the rim. His on ball defense was exceptional during a really important stretch. He shut down 2 possessions in a row by himself when the Jazz really needed stops, and has been pretty consistently good so far in his short runs. He had a couple nice passes on limited offensive possessions. Both assists showed good vision.

The bad so far has been his ball handling looks a little bit shaky (this makes sense as he probably couldn't use his left hand much for a while and it was always his weaker side. He looked to have cleaned it up quite a bit in preseason). He has missed both 3's (kind of funny that we are talking about this. It's a two shot sample lol) He has missed too many looks at the rim.

All of these last things could easily be attributed to rust. So it doesn't make a ton of sense to worry about them for the time being. I don't think these last two games have shown much of anything that we didn't already know. Exum has certain physical advantages that could make him a really good player. He's shown some of that in the games he's been back. He looks rusty and a little bit out of rhythm which should be expected.

I thought he kind of looked the same. But let's wait till the guy plays more than a total of 25 minutes before we try to evaluate.

Tell us what that’s like ?

I remember reading something about how crowder had a tough off-season and wasn't able to focus on being in shape and stuff. Didn't his mom die in the off-season? I think that would take precedence over working out. And getting traded to cle probably was stressful as well. My bet is he gets in great shape with the jazz training staff this off-season.
Okay, cool, we're on the same page then.

My bad everyone. Dumbass alert!

He's freaking huge compared to even summer league. And he hasn't lost his speed. He's going to be dangerous as hell when he gets in shape.
