What's new

I have seen the future...

I am willing to give them a little while to work things out. X has showed promise at times, and at other times...not so much. The only thing that really worries me is that at times he spent too much time pounding the rock out front. If there is an opening he can blow by just about anyone, if there is no opening he has a harder time creating one. I hope he gets a hang of the motion offense, if he doesn't it could be splitsville.

I have no problem with how Dante is being handled right now. It's obvious he is incredibly rusty and we can't really expect him to be given the ball and told to go create, possession after possession.

It is more what I've read from here by some Jazz fans. I was concerned that he would be torched by fans after barely 2 games, and that's exactly what happened.

It made me sick to my stomach reading the comments, and now Locke.

I think Dante is easily strong enough physically but his role of every season since he started with the Jazz is play defense and go to the corner. What's bothersome is Dante is way past the rookie status and his role is the same .Some of that's on him ,needing to be more aggressive in looking for his offense on this team (Jazz need it too from someone)and alot of it is on Snyder who is basically running the Gordon Hayward offense with DM. This doesn't leave much room from Exum to be aggressive offensively if he wants minutes BUT without exerting his aggressiveness offensively he's not going to get added minutes,so what is Exum going to do?

Summed it up perfectly. It's a real catch-22

I more get the feeling that Exum is about to be sat down, sacrificed on David Locke’s altar of the team can’t score with him on the floor. he can’t try point that out quickly enough. He even tried to blame X for Schroeder “getting going” in the 4th. I can see a repeat of last year ... dunno how it bodes for his future

Wow FFS are these real takes from Locke after the game. Was it on his daily podcast? That is crazy crazy. It felt like Shroder had to work harder to beat Exum to the rim, and Exum stopped him on two occassions. As for the Jazz not scoring with him on the court ... smfh...

This is my vibe too. Neto (who I do think is a solid basketball citizen - no offense against him) might be getting all Dante's minutes in the near future...

You mean Dante might be getting all Neto's minutes?

Nope. I just listened to Locke then. He clearly was preparing the waters..
Saying things like, Jazz can't score with Dante on the floor. Need someone on the bench who can score. Dante has no midrange or 3 point game etc....

We'll see.

Hmmm. Dante just came back!(directed at Locke) You would think our number 5 draft pick who has impressed recently not only stats-wise but with the eye-test would be given the benefit of the doubt for at least his first games back. In my opinion he has a much bigger upside than Neto, and I like Neto. We have never seen Dante like this. He's freaking HUGE compared to before. He's WAY more aggressive. Locke is an idiot. He's so worried about how Dante will fit, I'm more interested in how good he is. The fit will come.

Not to mention Quin basically psychologically abused Dante last year. He'd pull him after every mistake. I think Quin had a method and was trying to make Dante tougher. Well guess what? It worked. This is not the same Dante.

My prediction is that we'll see a few breakout games from Dante before the season is over. Hopefully not too much to garner interest around the league but enough to give Dante confidence.

Actually, it just came to me. Locke is playing reverse psychology with Dante. Challenging him. Well played, Locke. Well played.

Let's not rush to judgement. X still shows a ton of promise. Let's let him practice with the team for a week or two before we give up on him.
The challenge is we don't have much margin of error.

Who did he impress? His fanboys? Do you see any basketball specialists raving about Exum anywhere? Seriously guys, you guys are so overboard with his "impressiveness". There is nothing so impressive about him in general. He is what he is - overrated, overhyped, injury prone, timid player with no midrange game or jumper and who will never be better than backup PG in NBA.

LOL. Basketball specialists? He just came back. He's not even on the radar. And they're too busy tugging on Lebron's dick. **** the basketball specialists. They can't even get DPOY right.

And injury prone? He had one knee injury and then a jackass pulled a jackass move that could have injured anyone.

His speed is elite. ELITE. His passing, drives, defense are impressive. He plays within himself. Considering his age/experience he's been decent.

But now the game has changed for him. It has been obvious since summer league but some people can't see it.

His stats haven't even been bad, especially considering the mind games Quin played on him and the fact that he was coming off an ACL injury.

His 2pt. percentage last year was 52%. His FT % was .79%. He's going to get a lot more FT's as he drives more.

Yes, his shot is ugly and may never be great but his speed and the fact that he plays smart can make up for a lot.

Nothing would make me happier than eating crow on this, but i don't think he's even worth the QO. I hope he's impressing elsewhere next season.

Nothing impressive about those stats. In fact they are very mediocre at best.
And his speed is great but not elite. Elite is Westbrook, Wall, Schroeder, ( D.Rose before injuries) and as we all know Mitchell is faster then Exum as well. Passing, drives and defense? Again, above average at best.

Same here. I would eat that crow with bigger pleasure than I was eating one about Hayward...

Neither his drives nor his passing is above average (he's below average). Only his speed and length are.

Mitchell has great explosive speed but I bet Dante would handle him easily in a 40 yard dash. Dante definitely has ELITE speed. He might even be the fastest player in the NBA in a sprint. The problem is that Dante doesn't have the lateral explosiveness of those you mentioned.

Anyways, it's fun to prognosticate. I might be wrong about Dante but I think he's going to surprise you and a lot of others. And since very few have come out strongly in support of his future, we'll have a lot of fun with the I-told-you-so's if he excels. I'm warming up the crow as we speak.

Definitely not. Mitchell beat him by a lot in 3/4 court sprint ( 3.01 vs 3.19) . I posted those numbers before already - Dante is above average in that but way bellow Westbrook, Mitchell, Wall and even our old Randy Foe.

Found this:

Other notable favorites include John Wall (Kentucky) and Wesley Johnson ( Syracuse) both posting a time of 3.14. Evan Turner (Ohio State) ran a 3.27. . Usain Bolt comes out as the winner in 2.95 seconds... He has a bad RT though. . Dante Exum (3.19) Chris Paul (3.22) Steph Curry (3.28) Damian Lillard ...

But I bet Dante is much faster now than in the combine. His booty has gotten huge. And Donovan was probably 2.5 years older than Exum.

You would lose a lot of money. You forgetting he had ACL surgery. That does not add speed.
