No consent pelvic exams while under anesthesia

This was some time ago but a random guy was going door-to-door offering free breast exams. He got a few takers...

Just me personally, idgaf if it happened to me. Too logical. My life doesn't change from it one bit and I don't care if people see me naked. Never have.

Rather than someone "seeing you naked", it's really more akin to someone sticking a speculum up your butt, spreading it open, taking scrapings from the linings of your tissues, feeling up in there with fingers for lumps and abnormalities, and more. Much more invasive than "seeing you naked". I mean if you still dgaf about that, thats cool. I just wouldn't want to find out that had happened to my wife without her knowing.

So you don’t have anything to backup your assertion of it being widespread other than your own misunderstandings? Got it.

Most people are responding as if people are going in to have their appendix or gallbladder out and getting a pelvic exam. That’s not widespread. At all. That’d be a huge anomaly. It’s more like palpating ovaries through the vaginal canal in a procedure where your task is to remove ovaries through the vaginal canal. While I do not condone anyone thinking general anesthesia gives implied consent for carte blanche medical examination or that anyone should do anything without someone’s consent, there is an important distinction that’s being missed here. This isn’t about going in for an appendectomy and getting a pelvic exam (the picture above with the speculum is not a pelvic exam, BTW), but rather more like having a testicular exam during a vasectomy, or getting a prostate exam before the prostatectomy.

Lots of rights violated here, for sure. I have heard (reliably, of course) about women being sterilized when under anesthesia in other countries, without ever even being told about it. And that was over 40 years ago. "For the Cause", some say.

But this is rank perversion. America is still the best place on earth in regard to human rights....
