What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Brogdon seems like a nice player, but more of a complimentary guy. I think we need a guy who can score the ball more than a guy who can hit open shots. We need another 18-19+ ppg scorer. Surround whoever that is and Donovan with Ingles and O'Neale with Gobert as a lob threat, then we have a complete offense.

The only situation I'm OK with Rozier is if Utah signs Harris and Rozier comes here for the bi-annual exception. But even then I'd want Exum to play more minutes and I'd rather have a handful of other veteran PGs on the market. So why would he sign here and why would Boston not just match something that low if they like him at all (which they seem to)?
I doubt Rozier sees himself as a bi-annual player. He will want more money.

Korver retiring doesn’t mean he doesn’t get paid...

Are you sure about this ? I tried researching this very topic about a week ago and only found ambiguous results. The salary cap FAQ doesn't really spell out if players continue to make their salary after they retire, although an older version (previous CBA) made it pretty clear that they didn't, and the language in the FAQ has changed slightly since then so perhaps they do now under the current CBA. I can't imagine why they would, though, I mean to me it seems ridiculous that a player could decide not to play anymore and continue to get paid at his contracted rate.

Korver retiring doesn’t mean he doesn’t get paid... we could waive and stretch him and reduce his cap hit to like 1.2m so essentially the same thing.

This assumes Favs clears waivers and that he would come back... not completely out of the realm of possibility but those things would need to happen.
Yes it does lmao. That's partly why dudes dont retire.

Looking into it, retired players are paid their contract, it just doesnt count against the cap and teams often work out a payment plan with the player.

That’s junk. A team can terminate your contract by paying you the balance (cool). You can quit and still get paid out? That’s ridiculous. Teams should be having retirement clauses in contracts, if thats the case.

Then the players will just “play” them out (but not really play and taking a roster spot, and what is the point at that point?). It’s a guaranteed contract.

Lmao... the guy who constantly takes Ls from me in CBA stuff declares something incorrect before actually looking it up.

They could, in the same way they could also sign another contract (if they were a FA), and play it out. I’m surprised more people aren’t signing deals with no intention of finishing them.

This.
I mean many guys at the end of their careers have made around 100 million dollars or more already. Might as well sign one more deal and then promptly retire and get the money anyway. Seems like a perfect scam.

Like outside of the health concerns I have on Neto, I think Neto is a much better PG than Rozier. And even with Exum's health concerns and severe shooting limitations, I think he's a better PG than Rozier.
The Rozier hate is so dumb. So biased. Sure, Neto is a better PG than a guy who was pivotal in leading his team to the East Finals a year ago. Lol so dumb.

All the young emerging stars in Boston struggled this year. Tatum disappointed. Brown didn't improve as much as expected. Rozier disappointed.

Why? Do all these guys suck? Are all bi-annual (what a joke that is) to mid-level type guys?

Kyrie Irving is not a leader. He is selfish and negative. Rozier is an "all heart" type guy who got wronged by an uneven, selfish season. We would be lucky to have him at some discounted rate. Unfortunately, Kyrie will leave, Rozier will stay on a cheap deal and we will regret not trying to get him here.

Ask Donovan about Rozier. Would he want him? I would trust his judgment over you haters.

I mean, this never happens. They have review processes if they think a player is doing it just to get off a team and onto another one. Usually guys who retire have legitimate health concerns and teams are happy to have the money off the cap sheet.
