By my count, Jazz have saved $20-$30M every year under the Lindsey regime except Hayward's last, when Dennis made his half-***, too-little-too-late effort to convince Gordon the Jazz were all of a sudden serious about winning and spending the money to do so. Gordon was spineless for sure, but at least he called Dennis' bluff and basically said, "I don't believe you."
And Dennis lathered, rinsed and repeated the last two years, when he had the chance to get a couple of decent free agents. To those who believe his "financial flexibility" ********, I call as evidence the 2yr or 1yr deals that could have been made A lot of free agents were looking to the summer of 2019.
So I'm not going to excuse the Jazz for being tightwads again, nor commend them if they go into the luxury tax to retain Gobert, pay Mitchell, etc. They've been ripping off the fans for long enough, by having a payroll in the 28th-30th range for many years and again being in the lower echelon (23rd) this past season. Pay up or GTFO out of Utah and sell to an ownership group who wants to be #1.
