Who Should the Jazz Cut?

The two candidates to be cut are Kidd or Howard as they are the only two partially guaranteed players.

The Jazz could cut someone like NWG, Oni, Bradley, Mudiay, or Niang though at a very low cost.
Howard: Seems like he can really shoot and he seems longer/quicker than Niang.

Kidd: Athletic and strong. Jazz might need some Royce insurance as well if he gets overpaid next year.

NWG: Unremarkable backup PG. Seems like a good shooter though. Do the Jazz really need a 4th PG though, especially when they have so many other players who play quasi-backup PG?

Oni: Don't see anyway he gets cut personally.

Bradley: Doubt he gets cut since the Jazz only have two other centers.

Mudiay: Doubt he gets cut with his potential and sizee

Niang: Doubt he gets cut because of his locker-room presence and shooting ability.

So overall I think there are two spots for Kidd, NWG, and Howard. And right now I'd probably cut NWG.

Kidd, if we’re talking about dudes that have minimal or no money guaranteed.

If we’re just talking basketball, Bradley and NWG are wastes of roster spots. Pretty sure Jeff Green is going to be above Bradley in the C rotation when it actually matters, and NWG just doesn’t look good. I will say that getting another PG makes more sense now that we know Exum is going to miss a chunk of time at the beginning of the year. I’d rather get a vet minimum player to potentially use as salary ballast in later trade. We could do worse than Jeremy Lin and I think we are. I get that NWG could theoretically develop, that is just completely secondary to players being able to play right now.

Appeal for an injury exception with Exum. His health record should qualify us.

I think in addition to two-ways, the league should allot each franchise two roster spots to be occupied by the GM’s pet players.

Realistically it will be Kidd or Howard. I wish we had a real backup PG, though.

Joakim Noah is a better player and presence than Bradley is if we’re dead-set on having three or four centers.

If it wasn't for DL's obsession with slow, unathletic players, Niang would not be in this league right now.

The Bradley hate is perplexing to me given how dominant he has been in his SL and pre-season games.
He strictly plays a dying position and he’s 4th string at it.

I don’t know enough about Kidd to be confident in cutting him but it seems like the simplest move here. Howard looks good.

When it matters, he won’t be. Green or Davis will.

Against the Hornets, he might be 2nd string cuz the Jazz should be practicing load management.
Davis is the 2nd string center....

They arent going to play Green at center unless it's to matchup with another team.

He's clearly 3rd string center...
Yep, with Udoh and Favs gone, Bradley is clearly the number one backup to Ed this season. Quin might be experimenting Jeff Green at the 5 this season a lot. But in terms of rebounding and rim protection, Bradley is basically one injury away from receiving significant rotation minutes at 5 this season. If there'll ever a time for him to show that he belong in this league, this would be the year.

Which is to say that Green is playing to a specific need (in other words, Quin is trying to win and it’s the employed strategy), otherwise Davis plays the minutes unless it’s garbage time. So yes, he’s third string, unless it counts.

Tl;dr TB has played a total of 65 minutes in his career. How much more will he play this year? Even if Green rarely plays center, what’s his minute total there for the season?

I think he gets a lot of minutes this year.

Jazz will be in a lot of blowouts and Gobert or Davis will miss some games.

Which goes back to his point: when it matters, Green is third string.
