Bill has lost his fastball... I don’t consider him an analyst at all... he’s an entertainer. 75% of his trades aren’t even feasible anymore because the cap stuff ain’t even close.

So we can just dismiss literally anything he says about the Jazz as something we should seriously consider.

When was this dated? Horford is critical to keeping them alive while Embiid is out. I believe this whole line of thinking was previous to Embiid’s injury.

He has a similar flaw with his hands... but Ed has been spectacularly bad... like its hard to be this bad... High turnover rate, low shooting percentage, and low shot attempts. Was okayish on defense, but fouled so much.

Bismack is tough to trust on the pick and roll so the offense may be bad, but I don't think it'd be as bad... and I think his defense is better, specifically the rim protection.

Like the per 36 numbers aren't close... Biyombo is not the ideal fix, but he had some playoff moments and if he came through buyout then he's basically free. If our only playoff options were Tony, Ed, Bismack… I'd play Bismack.

This is all probably true.

I’m too fixated on the best answer to our problems: Baynes

I would really like a big who can play pick-n-pop (in addition to filling the biggest need on defense). Biyombo obviously can’t do one ounce of that.

For sure... If we got to Biyombo its because he was bought out (don't see that happening but its in the realm of possibility).

If Ed could provide better rim protection and finish off his offensive rebounds I think we could survive with him on the court because he'd have a tiny bit of gravity and now with JC and Mudiay in the second unit they likely aren't passing to the big anyway... Ingles needed that option. But even his offensive rebounds weren't turning into decent shots... one of the big differences with Tony is when the guard shoots he plants his *** in the paint and will rebound that **** if you ignore him... sometimes he rebounds a couple misses before it goes in, but he cleans up a lot of those. He has been able to catch and finish.

It sucks to have an issue at backup center because they have tried and honestly the bar is pretty low... we should be able to address it eventually.

I would take Tony. Defensively he ends possessions with rebounding and takes up the space under the basket. Offensively he has good hands, finishes well around the basket, and gets rebounds. That will be enough for 10 minutes a night against back-up players. The other nice thing about Bradley is that he just turned 22, and the Jazz can control his rights for a long time. So, there is a future benefit in developing him with these minutes.

Would Biyombo be better than Udoh?

All maybe true. But the dude will be BRUTALIZED in the playoffs.

I support Tony, but I don’t want him sniffing the floor in this year’s playoffs.

Probably very similar. I think Biyombo has more heft and is a better rebounder.. Udoh might be a better rim protector and more mobile.

I think Udoh is an upgrade to Ed and playoff Tony. I don't know when their season ends though... so I think he's stuck wherever he signed until next year.
 
I'd keep Taj Gibson on the list of potential candidates too... Ed and a minimum guy for Taj could work... again... gonna have to slide some seconds. I think NY has an abundance of cap space and $5M next year may not be an issue. They might want his vet leadership and they collect a second and a prospect (tell them NWG is a prospect) for their trouble.

I know there will be some low-lights where Bradley gets brutalized on defense, but overall I think he would be at least as good as any other option that is actually available. Worst case scenario we simplify to a drop big defense (a la Blazers with Kanter last year) and muck up the game to tread water for his 10 minutes a game. As I have said before, the big hole in the rotation is someone to guard the full size power forwards (AD, Giannis).

You know the couple minutes Tony played when Rudy had to sub out last night in the fourth quarter... that's what I think playoff Tony will look like. I think he's playable in the regular season... playoffs are just different.

NY sends something to Portland. I'd feel better about this deal because I'd feel bad about sending Ed to NY.
