Coronavirus

No joke, I might have this thing.
I feel like total ****. I had been working out and exercising and eating better than ever before and feeling great..... Until 2 days ago. Now I feel like I'm gonna die

It's also flu season in general, but you may as well get tested. Your expected symptoms would be high fever and chest congestion with a cough. Also, aches in general.

the second case in Utah was a man in davis county. Kaysville if I’m not mistaken. Isn’t that where you live? I’d try to get tested. Utah might be unique because of all the medical facilities at the University of Utah so they might have their own tests. Seriously man, don’t **** around with this

Italy is getting hammered. Nearly 1500 new cases in 24-48 hours.

this is going to crash their health care system. They’re going to be overwhelmed with this and then normal diseases that would be typically taken care of will start to take their toll. Italy’s economy and health care system are about to crash. Millions of Italians are going to feel the effects of this.

Trump sucks so bad. He thinks this is just another thing he can ********, like Mueller and Ukraine.

Barr and Mitch can’t bail him out of this. Finally he’s going to be held accountable. This is on him:

What a shame you're unable to say that to my face. You know, just to see what it would earn you. Heh, you gutless wonder, that would be most enjoyable.

This kind of response to a factual statement that can be meticulously demonstrated from a hundred or more posts in this forum alone is laughable. But I have no inclination to do you any harm, except to carry on in a discussion on the basis of actual facts. But it isn't about personal issues, just don't try to tell me how you're not a "Communist", perhaps drawing some fine distinctions about what you imagine a communist is or isn't, while propounding the ideas and world view of communists. I'll call out that lie any day. But hey comrade Jason, the Dear Leader of JFC;, believes it isn't a lie if you believe it, and a lot of other demonstrable lies as well.

I have some friends who are devout Marxist believers, who nevertheless despise the Statist varieties and those who use the ideals to firmly oppress the little peeps, while living high on the hog for doing so. Here in Utah, we have a prominent family that demonstrates the essential puppetry of so-called Communist dictators, for their years of profiteering from the charade.

My main objection to "Communism" is the use that has been made of it as tool for controlling and directing human politics for almost two centuries, all fraudulent and malicious tactics of exploitation.

I don't care if you believe "History" has a direction, or if there are natural sorts of human progress that involves some back and forth of a dialectic sort of Hegelian sort. I don't think such ideas are founded on reality, that's all. I don't care if you believe in "Open Borders" as a sort of ideal which posits it is a social good, it's just stupid, really. People will destroy what good there is in a nation or community if the locals don't maintain their rights and pass on their culture. Those who promote the dissolution of local manners almost always have their own interests in mind for doing so. It's like you believe in "Free Love" and just expect people to just love to be violated in every respect of their rights.

Liars come in all kinds imaginable. Well, that's tautological if any statement can be. Lies are always something people imagine, somehow, and try to persuade on others.

You believe in your cause "The Resistance" and have stated your resolute commitment to it. The project you promote here, is in fact a lie. The folks who sorta lead out on "The Resistance" need a dozen million dupes like you to do their work, but the result of that cause will not be anything like what you believe it will be. You believe in Liars, you believe stuff that is lies, and you spread the lies.

I might fail in my effort to shake you up a bit, but if anyone could get you to pause, and re-evaluate your devotion, you'd perhaps realize that your real friends are those who will try to do that.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s first native case of coronavirus has been confirmed, but what those in state do next is “key,” Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox said on Saturday.

Officials say the patient is a person who was aboard the same cruise ship that is now quarantined off the coast of California, though this unnamed Utahn completed his/her journey on the ship over a week ago and has been home, in Davis County, not knowing they were infected with the novel coronavirus.

Example 12,385,648,485 that the truth is the opposite of whatever trump says.

and stuff like this is why @colton created the impeachment thread. Trump has used his office to enrich himself. This is what happens when a president ignores the emoluments clause:

where have all the trump defenders gone? @babe @Catchall @JazzyFresh would y’all be okay with this if Obama or Clinton were benefitting financially like this?

You're not rational, or helpful, in this thread, if anywhere.

People with speculative claims and misinformation hardly deserve much attention, let alone being taken seriously.

I've been in here for quite a while telling people that CoViD-19 is going to be a pandemic, and that it is potentially the most lethal for populations as a whole of the SARS/MERS/Coronavirus and flu varietie as well. Every year it is a huge undertaking to develop and test and get produce sufficient flu vaccines. One reason is the way this class mutates in its exterior structures, protein content, that makes getting a good vaccine so problematic, and short-term in efficacy.

I believe this variant was produced experimentally in a research laboratory. I don't know how it was released, but I consider all laboratory viral disease agents will one way or another eventually "get out". Early Warner professionals within China were ostracized and jailed, and some have died as a result. Patient 0 was likely a lab worker. Xi, and China's establishment authorities in general, did try to minimize public information, which meant more spreading of the virus than otherwise would have been the case.

Trump agitated Xi and China politically to get our experts in to see what they could figure out, and did an unprecedented travel ban from the area, stopping even Americans from returning. But I believe it was released in October and into the world sporting crowd that was having an event there, and was carried back home from there.

But Xi did get the viral genome posted world-wide and many labs began research on it, and there are now many vaccine candidates being developed. Some researchers seem pretty optimistic is won't take a year, maybe more like a couple of months.

Meanwhile, the plain fact is that this virus can be stopped by public health measures, even without a vaccine.

The success of that public health effort is quite likely. It's not really all that hard to do, and mass publicization of the seriousness of the disease is Project Number One in that effort.

Air in airplanes or ships or trains or buses can be decontaminated, and every contact surface disinfected, quite easily, and on a continuing basis. I think uv lights over crowded areas, and a light chlorine or ozone vapor, like a swimming pool smell, pretty safe to use in these places.

I've long agitated for online home schooling. There is no need to send kids to schools anymore. No need to bus, if local neighborhoods could just set up little groups of involved parents who would check on the kids at home while working parents keep their jobs.

A lot of jobs can be done online, too. So, whatever we can do to reduce human mobility and avoid actual concentrated gatherings of human beings would make a huge difference.

Lastly, the more serious cases are indeed elderly, or compromised health individuals. These at least should be minimizing their activities and stay at home more, and use some home uv lights and a little chlorine vapor.

Soap is still in good supply. Frequent hand washing, and washing surfaces people touch a lot, like a computer keyboard or phone, are all good ideas.

Given the attention being given, I am believing we can, in the USA, make this a fairly well-managed episode. I think Trump is doing all the right things, all the good things he can do, on this issue.

I'm more concerned about North Korea, the Chinese concentration camps, and Iran, and beyond that any area where public health information and resources are lacking.

States and private entities attempting to make up for our flailing federal government. They can’t do anything because they’re so afraid of Donald’s tweeting.

This statement is so inaccurate that it’s laughable. @babe

God bless our President, wonderful healthcare system and overall arrogance getting in the way. We all deserve to perish. If not for this, for slavery, our treatment of Native Americans, and overall just raping and pillaging of the world. Okay, maybe not me. But all you guys.

Do we even need a vaccine for this virus? Well, here's how fast it will spread...… In about two months it will be everywhere. A large section of exposed people become unsymptomatic "carriers" infecting dozens of other people. The effort to track spread will be overwhelmed within a few weeks, and it will just have to be assumed everyone is going to get exposed.

So the real effort should focus on the vulnerable humans, the impaired immune system people like cancer patients and other special cases..... the elderly...… folks with diabetes and other chronic health issues. People who know, and/or care for the more vulnerable persons should exercise significant thought on how not to carry the virus "home" to these people. These folks should get the vaccine early, like workers directly serving patients.

We should encourage the vulnerable folks to get vaccines for closely-related virus as possible. There is significant cross-over protection, which I think could reduce serious cases by 50%, hopefully.

The human contacts and living spaces of vulnerable folks should all being doing disinfection routines, and minimizing close contacts.

And, yes. We should do every potential vaccine as fast as we can, with minimal sacrifice of safety.

We’ll be fine. Trump’s got this.

you've got no clue how irrelevant Trump is. Don't be an idiot trying to just make this a DumpTrump bonanza.

We've got established sysetms since almost 20 years ago, for taking action. Trump has gotten "out of the way". In the United States, the money needed to implement the plans is already going out. The plan is not perfect, not nearly.... but the most effective step is in full motion.... Public awareness.

You should've seen how fast all the Chlorox sold out of all the stores, all the cleaning supplies. People are changing plans to avoid unnecessary travel. The Casinos and hotels are nearly empty. Luxury Cruise liners are parked, empty, except for a few anchored offshore. Industry efforts to implement safety protocols are in full swing. Schools are changing their policies in critical respects. Kids with sniffles are straying home....

I think 90% of our population will be effectively "vaccinated" by exposure The Actual Virus, not just by having an injection of a vaccine, by about two months out, which will mean almost half of our population will be asymptomatic carriers at that time, and it will be nearly impossible to escape it.... but we'll be geared up for treating those seriously affected, saving most of the most vulnerable. There will be a decline in carriers after that, as the virus is slowly destroyed by their immune systems, and a month after that it will be hard to find a "carrier", and new cases will go to near zero.

This statement is so inaccurate that it’s laughable. @babe

We already know you know nothing, and don't even know how to laugh. LOL

"well-managed" doesn't mean people won't die in large numbers. In China, Concentration Camps are "well-managed".

I'm sure your classroom is "well-managed" too, but most of your students go home snickering.
